Scoreline: Cal wins 47-13

The logical part of my brain is concerned about Stanford's upset win last week against Louisville, and Cal's upset loss to Syracuse. Advanced metrics say that Stanford has performed at an FCS level for most of the season, so it only makes sense that they get their act together now. The other part of my brain says that this will be a sold-out crowd and that sometimes there is justice in the world, and hence this should be an absolute blowout win. Go Bears.

Big Game gotta Big Game. Literally nothing is certain with the inherent volatlity of performances by both teams + the important for both teams to win it. For Stanford it would be the game that is a the pivot they needed in the Taylor Era, for Wilcox and co. retaining the Axe would help at least internally re-affirm that all the work that has been done was upended by misfortune rather than poor process.

Scoreline: Cal wins 45-10

Wilcox has produced maddening Cal teams over the last several seasons, but at least they consistently beat the Lobsterbacks. The Bears come out and play like the coaching staff's jobs hinge on a win (even if they don't because Cal loves wasting money on frivolous contract extensions).
