Clemson has this thing they call IPTAY (I pay ten a year). The goal was to get every alum to give at least $10 to the program. They award season tix and priority seating and parking assignments to those who give the most. The point is that even a small donation creates a sense of ownership with the Alums and when you have as many alums as we have, getting $10 or more from each of them can add up. Knowlton needs to take a lesson from Dan Radakovich. https://iptaycuad.com/welcome-to-iptay/ And, there is one more brilliant thing that Clemson does when they are on the road: they get $2 bills and stamp them with the Clemson Tiger paw. Local merchants figure out real quick where money is coming from (Clemson Fans) and as a result other teams want Clemson to come play them. It's just great marketing and you'd think with a world class University we could figure out how to do some of this stuff. Happy Holidays everyone. Go Bears!
I'll give what I can... I've always wanted to donate even though Cal isn't my alma mater. I wanted to give before, but I wasn't quite well off yet. now that I'm doing a lot better I feel I can give to a team that has given me so much happiness for so many years.
Yes. Baldwin took a paycut from $500k/year as our OC to $250k/year as SLO's HC. For Ragle it was a step up. He was a high school head coach, then our SC Coordinator and now he has a college HC gig. Anyway you look at it, its a promotion.
Instead of sending individual small contributions to this fund at first, I'd like to galvanize a group of Cal alums to our own W4C booster fund...and then we donate that money to this fund...but only after having a voice at the table about things like marketing, administration, and the game experience.
I'm not opposed to this idea. However, I have already contributed to the fund. The article doesn't mention it but this fund was created by Bear Insider . com, which is exactly what you have suggested W4C should do as a community ~ with a W4C contribution to the fund.
I agree Cal needs to improve, "marketing, administration, and the game experience". Per this article, the fund is very specific in its purpose to include one of your suggestions: administration. The other 2 are not part of the fund's stated objective and likely should be addressed directly to the AD office if not Knowlton himself. Here is his email addy: jim.knowlton@berkeley.edu
I mentioned before my email to Knowlton and his response. Probably a good idea for more folks (particularly amongst the more active fanbase) to send your thoughts.
I already described the email content in a previous thread, but anyways I told him the piped music being played all time during the game is detrimental to the fan experience as there is virtually no crowd noise audible, especially on plays like the opponents 3rd and long where the crowd would, in the past, have made a lot of noise for instance. His response was carefully crafted and said that the younger generation prefers the piped in music.
I end up sending donations to my academic department as I feel they need more support. Athletic department has more ppl donating

This is the type of marketing we need.
Love that kind of low-key marketing.
I strongly disagree.
“Steve’s Korean cannot be an everyday lifestyle”
Tell that to undergrad me!
It costs twice as much too!

More money wasted on sportsball.
Beauty is that it's OUR money, not YOUR money. So you can sleep well tonight.
Certainly a step in the right direction

Why don't you just ask them?
