Hmm deciding where I'll go this after. A year after going to 11/12 I went to no road games last year. I'm definitely going to UNLV but not sure about the others. I might do NC State and Syracuse. Maybe UVA?
Ugh, the ACC love/hate continues… excited for UCLA (obviously) but also some ACC match ups such as Clemson, Wake, UVA… but really hate all the travel for our Bears. Is a bye between NC State and UVA better?
Maybe someday we can at least move to the Big 12 (along with Leland Jr, it’s not right to UCLA them) and swap spots with UCF and WVU. Dare to dream!
It seems strange to move SMU to the middle of the season given that they are trying to establish a rivalry. Then again, all ACC scheduling seems strange to me.
Bye is very late, but at least nobody plays us after a bye (outside of Virginia, but we have the same bye the week before).
Possibly lots of Friday games, which is not awesome.
Clemson on Friday night, which is unfortunate - we are not good at drawing good crowds for Friday night games, and with it being only game four I’m uncertain if there will be excitement even if we’re 3-0 going into it.
I like not getting SMU at the end of the season, they’ve been a tough opponent to end with.
We miss a decent portion of the top teams from 2025 (duke, Miami, gt, Louisville)
I read that too. I pulled up the depth chart for the Nov 23, 2024 Big Game and ... Luke Ferrelli isn't one of 6 ILBs listed! What an amazing 13-14 months he's had. I wish we could hear his POV when he trades August in Berkeley/Carlsbad for Oxford, MS!
My lone quibble is not having a home game from October 17 through November 21. I don't remember California ever having such a huge gap in their home schedule.
P.S. Can't wait for the Wagner game, should be epic.
I also cannot remember a gap that's as long between home games as the one in the 2026 football season. That's 5 weeks! I have an idea that we've had a 4-week gap before, but I'm struggling to remember which season that was or even who was head coach.
P.S. I'll resist the urge to speculatively compare the Wagner game to the 1991 UOP game.
Back in the days of CaliforniaGoldenBlogs, someone used to invent a recipe each week based on the opponent. Like duck or beaver. Very creative. Who was that guy?

This sauce is so good, I put it in a cup and sip it through a curly straw. But you can put it on a fish of your choice.
Ingredients:
1 clove garlic
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1 shallot, roughly chopped
2 tablespoons capers
2 tablespoons roughly chopped cornichons with their juice
(Cornichons are french dill pickles. If you can’t find them, you can use the little gherkins they sell in the stores.)
1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
1/2 cup sour cream
Juice of 1/2 lemon
1 tablespoon chopped parsley
Salt and pepper to taste
Directions:
In a food processor, purée the garlic and salt. Add shallot, capers, cornichons and their juices and pulse a few times. Add the mayonnaise, sour cream, lemon juice and parsley, and pulse. Season with salt and pepper.
Serve with a shot of Midori and Fanta, go to Wal-Mart and put a VCR on layaway.
I tried to look up the Eating the Enemy articles. I also wanted the old DBD Dictionary because I was going to re-post it as a WFC article next week. I should've saved the page. Didn't think the domain would go away.
Was it a dig to officially make Wagner a side dish?
Ron Rivera interviewed at Arizona Cardinals

I don't like that
Anyone have a hint re Homecoming weekend? Clemson on a Friday. So I’m guessing VA Tech. On 10-10.
Fun year to get season tickets. You get UCLA + Stanford rivalry games and then get to see Clemson + the new Franklin VT.
Gad, I gaze at the photo and think, UCLA 9.5, etc. etc. and think are these ratings of some sort...e.g. chances of winning? Dates, duh.
this is the most excited I've been for a new season in a while

Raleigh is a fun town. Syracuse is not

Weird schedule. UNLV in October, and finishing with our arch rival Pitt! BTW, is Ron Rivera interviewing for the Bills’ HC job?
I think the ACC wants Pitt and Cal to be archrivals because both teams wear the same or similar colors. Which is weird, when you think about it.
We should be rivals with Michigan. Or WVU.
I'd vote for Michigan before WVU or Pitt. I guess I want an excute to visit the Big House.

Overall not bad.
Side note: The Luke Ferrelli double-transfer is the talk of the portal.

I'm sure the extra $$$ will be worth the temporary tradeoff.

Did they say which game will be Homecoming weekend?
Ideally it should be the October 10 game vs. Virginia Tech with their new coach, James Franklin. Large turnout expected.
My main takeaways;
Who puts ketchup on their frankfurter? All the other dogs have proper condiments and the Top gets disrespected?
Syracuse should be the bockwurst, home matchup against Clemson gets the slightly spicy Calabrese.
Wagner getting potato salad made me laugh. It’s disrespectful though; they’ll be coming in with a chip on their shoulder. (possibly a potato chip)

That was me. I took it over from Yellow Fever who originally wrote them.

Really? Did you happen to keep copies?
Thanks belatedly for your work!
We should bring that back
Eating the Enemy was the name of the feature as I recall. I don't recall who wrote it.
I just tried to go to californiagoldenblogs.com and sbnation took it away.
Or actually it looks like the domain expired and someone bought it.
Too bad! So much good stuff was there.
I tried to look up the Eating the Enemy articles. I also wanted the old DBD Dictionary because I was going to re-post it as a WFC article next week. I should've saved the page. Didn't think the domain would go away.
Here is the old link for the DBD Dictionary:

More to come!
We need an inside man at sbnation/vox to pull up the old pages for us
Heck of a schedule, starts with UCLA, the wienie near the end at home, and ends with Pitt. I am looking forward to it. Go Bears!
Oh man, late November matchups with Pitt are always barnburners!
