Blue and Yellow??????? And you write for Cal??????? Regardless of the game, that statement is beyond inexcusable.

Maybe let’s call it maize next week? I mean, seriously folks. You just can’t be letting ChatGPT write without supervision.

Thanks Rick.

Win’s a win - still plenty to work on, and Minnesota will be a helluva test because PJ Fleck can coach and under him that team does not beat themselves.

Liked the adjustments they made at half. I just have so much more confidence in this staff to analyze and digest what’s gone on in-game and tweak things accordingly.

They got plenty of things to work on but it’s nice to be 2-0 while you do. Last year this may have still been closer in the 3rd…maybe into the 4th.

Well said, they seem to be able to fix things, which is important. Hopefully, we will start better next week.

Why didn’t we win 66-0 like Minnesota

First half was the worst half of Cal football against a nothing team that I have ever seen. Second half was ok

To be expected from a team with more than half roster of new players. Honestly, last week had same uneven feel just interspersed versus this one which was a tale of two halves. Still, D is once again even throughout save a few needless penalties.

Yeah, I watched much of the first half before it came time for dinner here on the east coast. Didn’t feel like they were in danger of losing but nothing that made me hurry back to watch more. Nice to see they picked it up some but not terribly impressive.

Remember, remember, the opposing QB that was 245 lb.

Felt sloppy. But a satisfying scoreboard. Plenty to go over to prep for the golden gophers. Maybe they wanted to keep it vanilla to stay ahead of the opponent? Regardless this felt like a sad win. Then again, go bears!

In some late night game, some team lost to BYU 27-3.

Scheduling BYU is huge downside and not much upside…good thing we never make that mistake

Once again, Wilcox had the team starting out flat and playing to the competition. We need to be the alpha at every game start to finish!

They will need to step it up against Minnesota, that is for sure. It did give the B team a few reps and JKS settled in after the first 20 minutes, but that is not going to cut it against another Power 4 team.

Blessing in disguise that the game was on ACCNX which nobody watches except for sickos and masochists like us.

35-3 is a barely passable (C-) score against a bad FCS team. And Raphael should have the starting RB job locked in going forward, with Johnson as the first guy off the bench and High for now being relegated to special teams coverage units. Would like to see Anthony League get some reps next week as the 3rd guy, unless the staff has a compelling reason not to burn his redshirt this early.

And reiterating my comment on the livethread at r/cfb: this offense is still in dire need of a reliable deep threat at WR - ideally with both size & speed to stretch the field and open up both the run game & screen game (which is supposedly a staple of Harsin's system). If Rogers or James are ready [in terms of learning the complex playbook], then Cefalo needs to give them a chance next week. Grayes hasn't done anything of note yet, but maybe he'll step up and show some consistency outside of practice.

I'd amend that WR comment to say that we are in dire need of a reliable threat at WR period. There have been far too many drops over the past few games. And yes, while JKS did have some accuracy issues today, most of those balls still should have been caught.

Definitely agree. Forgot to include my other live comment re: drops:

Our WRs need to catch the damn ball. Perhaps the lefty spin makes it a bit tricky to secure the ball, but if it hits your hands you need to catch it.

Cefalo (WR coach; and his RB counterpart Griffin for that matter) hasn't looked at all like the promised upgrade over Toler.

Anyone notice how many times Ahman Green referred to TSU as TCU? I know he's Aaron Rodgers' friend, but the commentary was distractingly sub Pac-12 Network standard. I didn't think that was possible.

Yes, not a good game, especially the 1st half, ugh. I actually watched it on ACCNX the play by play commentary was pretty good, but the analyst, EX NFL guy from Green Bay needs a lot of help. Rivera did a nice interview at halftime. It was strange not to have any commercials, just a relaxation screen, not complaining, probably couldn't sell ad space. Raphael played super, shifty, and fast. I like your assessment of our RBs.

Best thing about this game going forward was Brandon High’s fumble. Dude shouldn’t have been getting carries over Kendrick Raphael and with how one fumble typically puts rb’s in Wilcox’s doghouse this should be all it takes to make Raphael rb. Which is a huge positive going forward

should also be corrected to say that JKS threw for 0 TDs. Devin Brown had the Bears only passing touchdown on the day.

Well, JKS came back to Earth. He still looks like a good QB. He needs to start better. Raphael had a monster game. Defense did a lot to help. Cade will be missed 1st half of the next game, but hopefully Taggart can step up.
