Cal Football To Showcase a Throwback Helmet and Asks for a Gold-Out Against Miami
More flavor for the game itself.
The Cal Bear Paw helmet is a throwback to the 1985 Season helmets. It is a nice homage to the history of the program on a huge night for Cal football. We are still awaiting the full uniform complement we’re going to see on Saturday.
Cal Athletics is requesting fans show up in GOLD shirts and tops. Cal has had a handful of GOLD-outs before but none for a game of this level of significance to the trajectory of the program.
Love the throwback helmets! I should note, though, that the bear paw appeared on the helmets in 1982, Joe Kapp’s first season as head coach. Go Bears!
I prefer our standard helmets/unis when we have a national audience, for brand recognition. Granted this game is on at 10:30pm eastern.. But at least we should have the regular helmet on the stage for the College GameDay broadcast. I feel like throwbacks and alternates are more a nice change of pace for fans and players.
