Really appreciate the conversation. The real question this season is if the total can be better than the sum of the parts. Generally, it is hard to win without top talent. But sometimes you can pull it off with great coordinated team play. System play. Like I've been saying about football, it is very Cal to expect our teams to play smart. It's inexcusable to us for a Cal team to get beat because of play calling or execution because as Cal students we had to work our asses off to be our very best or get crushed by the competition in curve graded science classes. So we expect that even if Cal loses, we played smart. Looking poorly coached or playing "dumb" is especially unforgivable for us. I believe Madsen does the best he can with what he has, and as well as most anyone else would do, so the question is whether he can attract 4 and 5 star talent to take us to higher places.
