Off topic but looks like Ferrelli is flipping again to Ole Miss...

He's the new Jordan Payton

Wilcox never had this amount of support

PCWT's avatar

He never earned the belief, faith, and trust that he would utilize the increased and better support effectively

Earned? That’s laughable tosh hasn’t either. The disparity is crazy if not for Wilcox we’d be a p4 school he kept us afloat with gum and one hand tied behind his back like knowlton wasn’t a disaster

Two things can be equally true. JW served as a shepherd, keeping the program afloat thru a lot of ridiculous situations. However, most would agree that our ceiling as a program is far higher with Tosh than JW.

Most would probably agree but do you don’t think tosh would have been successful with all the things cal has done to not be successful in football? I’m rooting for tosh I am but the way Wilcox was treated is alarming bra was dealt a bad hand and kept fighting behind closed doors to modernize us

JW was paid handsomely for his efforts so I wouldn't characterize his treatment as alarming. It's true that JW faced a lot of headwinds. It's equally true that the new administration is in lockstep with Tosh to eliminate those same headwinds now. To a Cal fan, we would all acknowledge that JW was an upright leader who did his best. Unfortunately it was not good enough, regardless of circumstance, and our lackluster performance led us to the ACC-mired situation we're in now. This was our reckoning and we have a new leader in Tosh to guide us back into the fold of the haves.

As for Tosh, I don't think he would have come back if the program and school at large hadn't made a commitment to be great at football again. As to the point I think you're alluding to, it's Tosh's turn now to deliver the results.

All this true but it’s also points to my exact argument the disparity is crazy . That’s all. If he would have had more support both institutionally and locally we might have gotten a big 10 offer but the university operates very archaic which hindered him. That’s all.

Wilcox was a great example as a principled leader. IMO he didn’t quite have the goods to be an effective head coach: especially in this cut thrust era. Maybe he’ll find success down the road.

Still room for Marshawn to be added to the staff.

I think Anae is a coach who can fix our OL issues but couldn't do it in a single year. Retaining him is good news.

We also just didn't have P4 OL personnel last year and I don't think that was his fault, which includes a 2 deep. I don't know if we will next year, but at least we're starting to add bodies again.

Excellent! Good to see the confirmation.
