Hooray, a day game! The past couple of weeks Virginia has struggled mightily against WSU and NC. Time for the Bears to get a win vs. a ranked opponent.

If we'd won I wouldn't be surprised if we had the night game again.

So for those who hate night games, let's celebrate the loss!

Hmm, I also saw this later:

Looks like there may be some things built into the ACC contract that prevent late starts for teams traveling east (on Saturdays anyway). So maybe this game was never a candidate there. The hold was about determining which ESPN network it went on.

I can also see this as incentive for ESPN to get more western teams into the ACC if and when it needs to backfill. Assuming we don't get a B1G invite on the next go-round, I could see ESPN trying to get the former Pac teams in the Big 12 (plus BYU) to come over and join us.

Get real. Cal doesn’t have the talent or the coaching to keep up with Virginia. Agreed Virginia played badly against NC (unlike Cal ….) and got out by the skin of their teeth, but they are a far more consistent team and will most likely take control of the game and push Cal’s OL and DL right off the field. They’ve watched the Duke and VT films and will know that Cal has an unfixable, non existent run game and that by rushing 3 or 4 they won’t be stopped and can put JKS on his butt or hurry him to make bad freshman QB decisions. And when JKS does manage to get a pass off, only 5’7” De Jesus seems able to catch the ball while the rest of this WR room is apparently too worried about being hit to keep their attention on actually catching the ball. Maybe Virginia will just run the same run play over and over from one end zone to another all afternoon. Certainly worked for VT. Cal is toast, and don’t get me started on the Louisville game to follow. Cal will be 5-5 going into Big Game from which this team could easily emerge 5-6. Hopeless is too kind of a word for this crew. Pathetic seems slightly more descriptive. A 5-7 season is a distinct possibility and that may be the best thing to happen to this program in 9 miserable years! And if by some miracle Cal ends up 6-6, this team will be lucky to get an invite to the Pop Tart Bowl in Bismarck, South Dakota on a Wednesday night in mid- December. Lots of free tickets!

It pains me, but I think you are correct. That was so ugly Friday night and it wasn't an anomaly. Time to move on.

Virginia beat North Caroljna by just one point which didn't help their national aspirations.

They'll be out for blood when they visit Berkeley

If they have a good passing attack going against Cal's terrible D backfield and poor pass rush then they'll have lots of success.

Nothing says Atlantic Coast Conference, like Cal..

Good thing is that Virginia will have no idea which Cal team will show up: The one where we play a bad game and barely beat a lowly opponent or the one where we get dominated at home / on the road.

Well the former will not show up because Virginia is not a lowly opponent.
