Better outcome than expected, but I worry that Wilcox takes this as evidence that we are “almost there”.

We are not. We played SC like a low-midrange P12 team - about the same as furd, WSU and AZ, not as well as OSU or Utah. And UCLA is going to destroy these Trojans.

End of year changes need to be based more on the Colorado and WSU games, not on this one.

While I agree we shouldn’t overreact to a close game I don’t think USC is a team thats gonna get blown out by anyone, especially with their QB

You think we are beating UCLA?

I’ll have what you’re having…

Good game by the Bears.

Changes still need to be made on offense.

Wilcox’s buyout is still a problem.

Yes

Yes

Yes

That said, a much better effort than I expected, and proud of the kids.

And unless they manage to keep the good young skill position talent out of the portal, or Wilcox finally nails his third OC hire (three!!), Wilcox’s buyout is a huge problem.

That was far more watchable than I would have expected.

O-Line issues and inconsistency at QB, despite the stats, were the difference in this game.

Well the defense wasn’t very good tonight. USC was playing without their top 2 WRs and we had problems stopping them.

USC has one of the most potent offenses in the country, even without those two receivers. And Caleb Williams is a Heisman contender, he is the real deal.

No doubt and I agree but the defense gave up a lot of points.

Wilcox is a defensive coach so I expect more from that side of the team, just like I expected more from the offense under Dykes.

Williams definitely has some Mahomes in him.

Some might say, he has that dog in him.

I will need to order X-rays to confirm.

Dr. Dre undoubtedly has Caleb dialed in with a kick ass, top of the market health care plan, so I’m sure we can get that X-ray expedited. We’re talking Cedars-Sinai…the works.

We don’t need to go to the hospital to confirm. If Dre can bring Snoop over for a quick inspection we can settle if he has that dog in him without getting insurance involved.

Plummer channeled his inner Mahomes with a shovel pass too!

Rug, interested in your take on why Cal’s WR screens are absolute dog schitt? Is it as simple as saying the WR’s & TE’s don’t block, or does Plummer bear some responsibility for not allowing the play to develop? Does he ever hold a safety with his eyes?

It’s such a bad look.

The WRs are really bad at blocking.

Hi Jimmy; I'll need to look at the film to fairly answer your question. However, I have been underwhelmed by both our WR blocking and TE blocking (and our O-line blocking!). I'm not sure why we aren't getting it done.

There were glimmers of hope. Can we get three more wins? It doesn't seem so impossible now. The Bears played well enough to have won that game but the defense just doesn't seem up to the usual Wilcox standard this year. Hopefully we can keep improving on both sides of the ball.

Don’t let tonight be the judge…while not up to recent units under Wilcox/Sirmon, the D has nonetheless played well enough to get us 2, maybe 3 more wins…at ND & in Boulder especially, and perhaps v the Washington schools, but for offensive ineptitude we lose those games.

3 wins is asking a lot. 2 at most IMO. Ucla will run right through us like an undercooked pollo asado street taco in Tijuana.

Can we be sure it's "pollo"?

IMHO- winning out sets us back to optimistic rebuilding mode and hopefully might recruit and retain some future talent. And it's the longest of long shots.

If we win out, the it will be a totally different story surrounding the program going into offseason.

WInning out for the remainder of the season would. But we still have recruitment and retention issues. We still have a whole host of bad play calls, an inconsistent QB, and poor O line performance.
