Not a great meet for the Bears with subpar scores on beam and vault, but they have a very strong 0.675 lead over 3rd place going to the final rotation. Cal will hopefully have a strong bars routine just as a confidence boost going into Sunday.

Good thing that there is virtually no pressure in this meet today, not the best start for Cal on beam. Typically Cal will have multiple 9.9+ scores, but only 9.85's today before Perea. Good thing is that this meet will give them more experience with these same apparatus on Sunday.

The realistic best case scenario for the team this year is to make the "Final Four on the Floor", which would take a mild upset at the NCAA Championship semifinal.

As you can see from the wiki page, NCAA actually reduced the size of the women's gymnastics postseason just before COVID. NCAA Championship now only got the top-8 rather than top-12 teams just when the Cal program becomes a perennial top-12 team. Cal did make the NCAA championship two years ago and narrowly missed out last year. They should make it back again this year since they are ranked 7th, but that takes a good meet on Sunday (assuming everything goes okay today). Then, we can talk about if they can surprise on April 13th.
