If the argument was that Indiana didn't belong because they got beat by 10 at Notre Dame, then obviously Tennessee getting beat 42-10 means they didn't belong either?
Some of the talking heads, Wilner front and center among them, argued that Indiana didn't belong. Turns out, the Hoosiers came the closet of the 4 road teams.
No Cal connection and sorry to hijack the conversation, but while making dinner I went through the sports channels and mlb channel is remembering Ricky Henderson who passed away yesterday. He didn’t start for A’s until I moved from the Bay Area but I still have great memories of him.
CRUCIAL to get home field in the first round. Which should come as a surprise to no one.
Also a good idea to run the ball, defense the run, AND DO NOT turn the ball over. If you do none of those as well as your opponent, it very rarely goes well for you.
It will be hilarious if Texas, after getting a bogus gift on a bad PI call, uses a brain dead 4th down decision to Sark themselves into position to get Dabo-ed.
The conversations are already building up over the selection and seeding criteria, in light of lopsided games. Not that that hasn't always been an issue for bowl games at all levels. Getting competitive games is both an art and a skill.
My responses to those calling for weighting good wins more than bad losses, are winning conferences have to matter or it is just a beauty contest, not a series of contests, and bad losses should be at least damaging, and multiple ones disqualifying, or you have no incentive to be consistent.
‘Stangs just have to hope Jennings matures from this. He looked frantic, overwhelmed by the moment. He left me wondering if the backup would be inserted.
I'd like to see SMU beat Penn State, but I don't think its gonna happen. I'd like to see Clemson beat Texas, but I don't think its gonna happen. I'd really like to see Tennessee beat The Ohio State, but I don't think its going to happen. But, one thing that does seem to happen on a day like today, with todays games, is an upset. Which one will be the upset?
As I watch, SMU is still in the game, but it looks they are on the losing end of a rockfight.
That being said, SMU has been down and comeback several times, somewhat like Miami. As the Penis State defense wears down that tempo of SMU might kick into high gear.
2 pick 6s and another Int that cost a score. All in the short passing game, not way down field. That can't happen, wasted what has been a great SMU defensive effort so far.
I agree with all 3. Last night went about as expected (should not be a surprise, the ND defense is legit). I expect today will too. But I am intrigued.
We are venturing into more uncharted waters, and new matchups, as we have been really for the last few years, and people have ideas about what to expect, but I seriously am interested in seeing how it goes.
What worked? What did not? Could something have been done different in those cases? Nothing like actual results to test our theories.
And more Game Days is never, and can never, be a bad thing!
Is there anything better?! https://thegoldenmean2040.substack.com/p/the-immortal-american-beauty-of-college
The CFB playoffs really needed more SEC schools.

I think tonight’s game proved that Bama and SC didn’t belong.
Good chance Georgia gets bounced next week without their starting QB.

Less than 7 minutes in, tOSU is up 14-0 in Tennessee.
bad showing for the ACC. Finishing 14th in this conference is embarrassing

Clemson receivers are making some great catches.

That said, Clemson's unsound safety play on rush defense may well negate everything else.
In the end, it was the width of a shoe from a 1 score game in Austin.

It is also a lot of luck in getting competitive games.
The 4 game playoffs had a lot of non competitive and lopsided games.
BS blindside block call, against a Clem’s Son DL, nullifies the six part of a pick six.
It was really shaky. Should have been a no call, and a private word of caution.
Klubnik is looking good so far. This is a homecoming for him.

I would have liked to see SMU down in Austin and Clemson at Penn St. More fan travel friendly.
Agreed, also more regional games means a bit more of a rivalry feel.
The SEC a$$hats are going to be insufferable now. ;-)
This isn’t a good look for the ACC…

A second pick 6. Well, FFS.

It's painful, but SMU tempo may eventually wear down the Penn State defense. SMU is more of second half team.
And now a 2nd Int in the red zone. I've rarely seen a worse short passing day, certainly not by an actual "good" team.
This after Penn St made a horrendous 4th down mistake.
FFS X 3
