Was just looking at 2017 eclipse photos. Even though it was only partial over here, that was a fun event. This time it looks like much of the country will be in cloud cover.
I like the idea of the airplane flights to see the eclipse, but I wouldn’t want to have an aisle seat.
I remember in 2017 schools in Louisville would bus their kids to the middle of the state to watch. Then it took forever to get back due to traffic. I think it ended up being like a 15+ hour day since they didn't get back until well after 9.
ino's Pizza. I remember in college in the late 80s and early 90s they had bad pizza. Maybe 10 years ago we got it in Louisville and it's much better than it used to be. It's still fast food pizza, but actually edible now. I liked it above Papa John's. In Louisville, obviously, Papa John's was very popular. I never liked it much. We used to get Pizza Hut.
i was talking someone in one of my orbits (cant remember who) and they said that at some point (a number of years ago) Domino's got a new marketing person and they insisted on making the pizza taste better. things have been much improved since those early days.
it was decent, and then they cut costs and made it worse, and then the marketing person you mentioned had the genius idea of improving. Funny how that works
Oh I haven't had the chicken sandwich in a long time. When they had the international ones, I liked the American one (lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, mayo) and ex liked the Italian one (cheese and marinara sauce I think).
Wife got flat tire in the new Volvo xc60. Not even a mini spare, just a compressor and some tire sealant that allows you to limp to the nearest dealer.
The tire we need is on nationwide back order, so we don't even know how long we don't have that car.
I guess we'll drive the Subaru to VT for the weekend ski and eclipse trip.
That is fine except I was hoping to get some highway driving practice for younger one. They are not driving the stick Subaru yet.
so the latest is the the tire/wheel insurance people will only replace w/ the model that the car has. that Pirelli all season one is on nationwide backorder and they have no idea when they will get some.
otherwise they need to switch out the tires in pairs, but the insurance coverage only pays for one!

He never placed any lower than fourth, with his best finishes coming in the 100m and 400m races.

Unbelievable loss last night (Fri.). Luke Short was cruising, then the defense farted away the game. Advincula with three hits but it wasn’t enough to save the Bears.
California men's gymnastics junior Jasper Smith-Gordon was named a Regular-Season All-American by the College Gymnastics Association (CGA) on Thursday, two days ahead of the upcoming MPSF Championships.
To be recognized, a gymnast must rank among the nation's top eight in an event. Smith-Gordon currently sits at No. 6 in the vault national rankings with an average score of 14.700, a mark that he has hit in four out of five competitions this season. This is Smith-Gordon's second consecutive Regular-Season All-America honor on vault.
The No. 3 California women's gymnastics team dominated the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association Region Awards that were announced Wednesday.

BERKELEY - California women's basketball head coach Charmin Smith has signed a three-year contract extension, Cal Director of Athletics Jim Knowlton announced Thursday. Smith, who recently completed her fifth year as head coach, is now signed through the 2028-29 season.
Women's basketball: Cal gives head coach Charmin Smith a five year extension. While hoping she would be let go I was prepared for and ready to except a two-year extension. This is ludicrous. We desperately need a new AD before Knowlton can do any further damage,
BERKELEY – Acacia Anders hit a walk-off home run in the bottom of the eighth inning to send the No. 20 California softball team to a 2-1 win over Saint Mary's on Wednesday at Levine-Fricke Field.

The Golden State Warriors defeated the Houston Rockets 133-110 on Thursday evening, solidifying their place in the play-in tournament standings. With their fifth consecutive win, it feels like the Warriors are playing some of their best basketball of the season right as the playoffs approach.
The Athletics appear close to severing ties with Oakland after 56 years and making a minor league ballpark in West Sacramento their interim home before the expected move to Las Vegas for the 2028 season.
The team met with Sacramento officials Wednesday. According to a report by Sacramento radio personality Dave Weiglein of Sactown Sports, the team will announce its decision to relocate either Thursday or Friday. If the move comes to fruition, the A's will share Sutter Health Park with the San Francisco Giants' Triple-A team, the RiverCats, for up to three seasons beginning next season. There was no indication the A's informed Oakland of their plans.
(KRON) — The Oakland Athletics will make Sutter Health Park in West Sacramento their temporary home starting in 2025, officials announced Thursday. The A’s will play at the ballpark after the 2024 season for three Major League Baseball seasons, with an option to extend for a fourth.
The Sacramento Kings, who are the majority owner of the Pacific Coast League’s Sacramento River Cats, announced the deal. The River Cats have played at the ballpark since its inaugural season in 2000.
Executives from the Oakland A’s met with Sacramento representatives on Wednesday to reach the agreement. The meeting came one day after the team met with the Oakland leaders to negotiate a lease proposal for the Coliseum. The A’s announced that the two sides failed to reach a deal shortly after the meeting.
I read that the RiverCats owner is the Kings owner and wants this as a trial run to show the MLB that a team can survive in Sac. Not sure I'd want to sit in 100 degree weather every game. I guess they would do a retractable dome.
I know he wants that, but it’s just way too small of a metro area, seems unrealistic they ever get a team unless maybe the Vegas move flops for the A’s and they get stuck there
Despite Ross Stripling’s best efforts, the Oakland Athletics were beaten once again and swept by the Boston Red Sox. Stripling spun 7 strong inning of one-run ball for the A’s, the best they could hope for from the 34-year-old righty, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the offense’s lack of execution.
If you hopped online Wednesday night to check in on the MLB scores, I’m here to tell you that you did it correctly. You are on the right date. You chose Wednesday, April 3. You might think you chose Tuesday, April 2. That sometimes happens. Sometimes you pick the wrong date, and sometimes the website just thinks you’re more interested in what happened yesterday than what happened today. These things happen.
Shohei Ohtani hit his first home run with the Dodgers, providing much-needed insurance as Los Angeles completed a three-game sweep with a 5-4 win over the Giants on Wednesday night at Dodger Stadium.
It took until his ninth game and 41st plate appearance, but the sound off Ohtani’s bat in the seventh inning was well worth the wait.
He may be another in the long line of pitchers the Dodgers have fixed. Jury's out so far, but I guess trending up. I didn't think he was great in spring training.
Dodgers go to Chicago next for a three game set against my Cubbies. Ohtani & Yamamoto against Suzuki & Imanaga- should be interesting! Maybe they get a meal after at this place, where Suzuki is a regular - https://g.co/kgs/Lr1szpi. Lot of pics on the wall of all the players who’ve eaten there
I think it should be a good series this weekend. I heard the Dodgers announcers saying it's still cold in Chicago. Will be interesting to see how Yamamoto pitches in the cold. I think he goes Sunday if they stick with the opening rotation. I think Miller on Fri and Yamamoto on the national FS1 broadcast on Sat. And a day game tomorrow which is pretty cool. And I'll have to remember to tune in early.
It’s supposed to warm up a bit this weekend so may not be as bad as the series we just had against the Rockies, where it looked bitterly cold and the stands were nearly empty. Cubbies have Hendricks going tomorrow and he is just throwing meatballs right now (he badly needs to be sent to the glue factory), so I assume you guys win that one easily but the weekend games should be good.
Btw, man, the Rockies are bad. Like Oakland A’s level bad. Will be interesting to see which of those two teams produces a worse record this year.
When No 3 was in little league and was probably 10 or 11, I was the head coach. He was our best pitcher. At the end of the season we had a game where he couldn't make it because he was supposed to go to Austin with his mom to visit her brother. That trip ended up getting postponed the day before and then cancelled the day of the game, thanks Southwest.
Anyways, we got destroyed like 25-2. I had to cobble together a pitching staff and we were just getting destroyed. We were throwing strikes and they were just killing the ball.
I saw a dad from the other team a few weeks later at the supermarket (his kid played for me the previous season) and he was complaining about the league and how he was part of the game where they destroyed a team. How they kept running up the score. I said that I was the coach of the other team and didn't have a problem with it. We were throwing strikes and your team was hitting the ball. Didn't really take extra bases. Coaches aren't going to tell their kids to purposely strike out. Especially the kids that aren't as good. Give them a chance to hit the ball and feel good.
What sucked the most was that I didn't know his flight got cancelled the day of the game until afterwards. He could've made the game.
I was on the rugby team as a sophomore in HS and we were on the wrong end of a 54-0 scoreline that was even worse of an experience than it sounds, it was the first and then last game of the season because half the guys quit to play baseball.
In middle school, I played in a basketball game in which the lovely young ladies of Abbott Middle School beat us, 61-3. I scored all three points for the losing side, however.
In a former life, I competed in a couple cycling road races. In two that had decent climbing with hills, I found myself in the front with 3-4 other guys at the top of the hill with the rest of pack far behind (out of 50 or more racers). In both, I ended up with a flat tire, depriving me of the opportunity to see how I might place with the handful of other guys at the front.
the only competitive cycling i ever did was the cycling leg of an Olympic triathlon relay. so it was basically a 40 km time trial.
it was hard to tell how well i did comparatively because all the swimmers came off at different times. also, i might have been solid at the cycling part, but i didnt have to save any energy for swim or run. my only real gauge was that very few people passed me.
i did have a personal-best sustained wattage for nearly 80 minutes which i have not come even close to matching in the subsequent years.
now that i am only riding inside, i have tried a couple group rides and races on Zwift. those people are fast and ruthless. it is all going fine and then out of nowhere some just goes for it and if you are not paying attention the peloton is quickly out of reach and there is no way to catch up.
No new DBD? Guess I'll keep using this one today.

Might be worse this time as the Eclipse people going out are running into the Spring Breakers coming in.

The tire sealant sucks for the people replacing the tires.
I would imagine tire sealant makes it more difficult to get the tire off the rim.
yeah and I think it makes a mess.

Oh, well.
All the A's fans are gonna have to come to Sacramento* to protest the team now! MY HOOD!
*Technically West Sacramento, across the river and the county line.
Right. West Sac is Yolo County.
AAA team playing in an AAA stadium. Fitting. Vegas falls through then they become the Sacramento RiverA's.
Silver lining is it’s kind of cool for Sacto - probably their only real chance to have an MLB team ever
I read that the RiverCats owner is the Kings owner and wants this as a trial run to show the MLB that a team can survive in Sac. Not sure I'd want to sit in 100 degree weather every game. I guess they would do a retractable dome.

Btw what do you guys think happens to Coliseum site now? It’s such a huge place, right on highway. Could have some interesting uses
John Fisher owns half of it, so I think it sits empty as a giant fuck you for a decade or more.

Stripling spun 7 strong inning of one-run ball for the A’s, the best they could hope for from the 34-year-old righty, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the offense’s lack of execution.
Giants avoid avoiding the sweep

If you hopped online Wednesday night to check in on the MLB scores, I’m here to tell you that you did it correctly. You are on the right date. You chose Wednesday, April 3. You might think you chose Tuesday, April 2. That sometimes happens. Sometimes you pick the wrong date, and sometimes the website just thinks you’re more interested in what happened yesterday than what happened today. These things happen.
Shohei Ohtani hits first home run, Dinelson Lamet saves Dodgers sweep of Giants

Shohei Ohtani hit his first home run with the Dodgers, providing much-needed insurance as Los Angeles completed a three-game sweep with a 5-4 win over the Giants on Wednesday night at Dodger Stadium.
It took until his ninth game and 41st plate appearance, but the sound off Ohtani’s bat in the seventh inning was well worth the wait.
LA’s simply toying with the Giants now, throwing out Dinelson F-ing Lamet to make the Giants look silly to close it out. Ha, yikes.

Lot of pics on the wall of all the players who’ve eaten there
Oh I didn't know this place.
Will bookmark it.
I don't have the full splits but he's pitched fine in Hokkaido.

What is the worst sporting event loss that you competed in?
HAG and I were on a mostly winless intramural basketball team at Cal. i cant remember winning more than one or two games over the years.
softball and football were a little better.
