What was a toy that you remember playing with as a kid?

Lincoln Logs. I also had a top that you activated with a handle that you pushed down on to make it spin.

Ironically considering my political views as an adult, I played with a lot of toy guns and "army men." I remember getting a toy Tommy gun when I was eight that I thought was the coolest thing in the world.

Come to think of it, there's a wooden representation of a Tommy gun in our basement. This thing has been floating around in the family for decades. Even I played with it for a short while. My kids never did play with it. I'm not even sure they know about it.

I had a tomy gun too! Not sure what finally happened to it but it was around for years!

A very real looking water pistol caught my eye back in the day. I looked it up just now, it resembled a Colt Woodsman. These days you could get shot playing with a real looking water pistol. Maybe back then too.

Which is why toy guns are supposed to have an orange tip.

My earliest memory is of my 2nd birthday and receiving a multi-colored abacus. I used to play with that all the time for years.

Toronto Argonauts won their first game 29-16 thanks to 225 yards from Derek Slywka. He is a defensive back and isn't even the return man. He had almost as many yards as the rest of the team combined.

US continues to be unimpressive but winning Gold Cup games anyway. Next up: Guatemala, which upset Canada in their own penalty shootout.

Golden State Valkyries who were 8-7 clobbered the then 10-6 Seattle Storm, by a whopping 84-57. GSV now 2 games over .500 for the first time. GSV star Kayla Thornton left the game in the 3rd quarter with an injury and did not return, but is expected to recover.

Someday set a wildfire in Idaho then shot the fireman who showed up to put out the blaze. Sadly, this was not shocking in today's America.

FiatSlug's avatar

The suspect shot *three* firemen, killing two of them. The third fireman is in critical condition.

It is reported that the gunman is dead. He was only 20 years old.

What madness produces this kind of violence and destruction?

I don't know, but let's start cutting more mental health services and taxes to the rich until this problem is solved.

The beatings will continue until morale improves!

ELSEWHERE IN COLLEGE

The so-called BYJew Era appears to be over. Jake Retzlaff has been suspended seven games by BYU for admitting to premarital sex as part of his defense case against a civil lawsuit for rape and other issues. He already has his undergrad degree and will enter the transfer portal.

Name a movie that was a bad adaptation of the book

sycasey's avatar

The Lost World: Jurassic Park. Had almost nothing to do with the book, really, other than having Ian Malcolm as the main character.

The second Bourne movie. Good movie, but the book is completely different (takes place partly in HK, iirc)

It’s time for another edition of Oski Disciple’s quote of the day.

“Film as dream, film as music. No art passes our conscience in the way film does, and goes directly to our feelings, deep down into the dark rooms of our souls.” — Ingmar Bergman
