When we loaded eating utensils into a basket, dinner knives were loaded blade up. Steak knives and food prep knives are always washed by hand.
Our current dishwasher has a third rack. It's intended to allow items with a shallow profile to be washed there, creating more space on the bottom rack.
My wife and I had an argument over steak knives going into the dishwasher. I pointed out how the multi-material handle would cause unequal expansion and contraction in heat/water environment leading to the eventual ruining of the handles. She argued that life was too short to wash steak knives by hand and that she'd gladly buy new ones when they did warp. I haven't been married for 25 years for not knowing when to pick my battles, so now I begrudgingly put steak knives into the dishwasher.
Our previous dishwasher burnt out a motor about 18 months ago. Replacing the failed motor was feasible, but the age of the dishwasher (10+ years old) seemed to argue against it. So, we started to shop for a new dishwasher.
Most dishwashers at that time did NOT have a 3rd rack. But we found one in a Whirlpool model that we liked and we could afford, so we pulled the trigger. I wouldn't buy it again because it doesn't dry dishes well. I think it may be because the tub is not stainless steel; therefore, it doesn't retain heat which aids in drying dishes. The tub is plastic, which doesn't retain heat and leaves non-ceramic dishes with water drops all over. Metal items are simply not fully dry.
Always. We use Finish for our rinse aid. Makes no difference in how dry the contents are with the possible exception of the Fiesta ware because it is ceramic.

We have an LG one that doesn't have a drying element. It relies on the heat in the stainless steel sides to "dry" the dishes. Basically I feel it takes overnight to dry. And even then it doesn't properly dry the top of things. But, it does mean we don't have to worry about washing plastic tupperware.
I can't remember a time where I felt like I was in danger. I guess that means I'm kinda conservative when it comes to that sort of thing. Maybe I should be more YOLO
I was 20 years old hitchhiking in Marin County. I started to get into a car. The driver looked and sounded a little sketchy. I was about to close the passenger door when I noted that there were no door handles on the inside of the car. Talk about red flags.... I got out and said I had to make a phone call. The driver practically pleaded for me to stay and then offered to wait for me. I ran into a nearby store and didn't emerge until I saw that he'd driven off.
We like it. I agree with GoldenSD81 that it isn't as dark as one would want, but it has its moments. The biggest surprises for us are the actors, especially the actor who plays Big Bad. Without revealing too much, that actor showing up made us laugh because of his last major acting role.
I’ve been watching it and it has been good to average. I was hoping for something a little more dark and serious, along the lines of Andor and Rogue One.

I put eating knives in the dishwasher but not prep knives. Except maybe cheap paring knives.
All utensils and other flat stuff go on the top shallow rack.

Ah, well. Mrs Slug insists that steak knives are best washed by hand. I agree, so who am I to argue the point?
Also, *I* wash the steak knives by hand and all other food prep knives. This goes way back to when we bought our Wusthof set over 21 years ago.
Sounds like we have the same dishwasher or that's the way they make 'em these days.

Do you use rinse aid in the dishwasher? Most new dishwashers seem to require it (and when it is used the dishes do dry, even plastics).

It is such a pain when a small plastic thing falls through the rack and melts on the hot drying element.
oh I remember those days

same. lived a sheltered and safe life mostly.
maybe a little bit of self-induced danger in skiing or hiking or riding, but nothing all that dangerous.

The world was pretty close to having an Oski Disciple-skin lampshade.
Yikes!
JFC - that is crazy dude!
What year was this and was it the Zodiac Killer who tried to pick you up?
1974. I never thought that it might be the Zodiac. I suppose it's possible. Yikes!

OUR CRUMBLING DEMOCRACY
It occurs to me that Team Biden hasn't considered all of the *constitutional* options possible to force Biden from the race.
The cabinet might have to, metaphorically speaking, take away Uncle Joe's car keys. See 25th Amendment, Section 4.

Now that's really dark. And not what I meant.

Tried an episode of Strong Girl Nam-Soon. Seems like mindless fun, will probably watch more.
Also trying Supacell but it’s taking a while to get going.
Saw the first episode of The Acolyte. It was interesting so far. Need to watch an episode or two more to give a better review. 14/19 so far

ELSEWHERE IN COLLEGE
NCAA loses again, as court rules college athletes could be employees.
Blow it all up!!
In this case, I agree. The NCAA is nothing more than another form of feudalism.
