Amazon buys Roomba. You know those vacuums are going to start collecting data on you, right?

They collect data everywhere so I've already given up. Adding one data collecting device won't make a difference. The other day my friend and I were talking about duplicating keys and we were conversing in Japanese. Few minutes later, I opened yelp app to look up where to eat. The first message I see on the app is "Are you looking for a locksmith?"

There has been moments where I get ads like that and made me suspicious. As a joke, our family talks about needing to buy diapers (our kid is 17 years old) as a red herring to see if our Google devices pick up on it.

CFB. Dude was a force at the college level. Extra effort works in college. You can scramble. You can ad-lib. You can lean on superior skilled-players. And you can be charming as heck all packaged up in a born-again virgin beefcake package.

At the pro level, he got exposed because you actually need next-level talent.

Expand full comment

He definitely hustled hard for Jesus but he was a 5* talent, surrounded by a bunch of 4* and 5* talent with one of the best CFB HC in modern history who knew how to use Tebow and his talents. Tebow was tailor made for those Florida offenses, similar to how Tommy Frazier skill set was perfect for those Nebraska teams.

Sinema exacts her pound of flesh from Schumer by raising taxes via taxing stock buybacks, but spending $5b of it to address drought in Arizona

https://www.cnn.com/2022/08/04/politics/chuck-schumer-economic-bill-saturday/index.html

Expand full comment

I would say that was about a half pound at most.

The tax thing is frustrating but not a lot of money in this package. The $5b for drought in Arizona is a good thing and needed.

Expand full comment

It is kind of nuts that she went to the mat to maintain lower tax rates on compensation for private equity guys, maybe the least sympathetic people in the universe. But I suppose you just swallow that and be happy that she signed on. She is such a loony toon

Expand full comment

perhaps she thinks that's where she's going to get the money for her centrist presidential campaign... or maybe she just wants to cash in when she gets bored of being the quirky senator and this is greasing the skids for a future payday.

Kapler tossed in Giants loss

https://www.mccoveychronicles.com/2022/8/4/23292904/mlb-scores-san-francisco-giants-los-angeles-dodgers-recap-gabe-kapler-mookie-betts

The San Francisco Giants continue to make history in 2022, dropping their 8th straight loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers which topped the dubious mark set by the 1980 team and matched the 1979 team.

Final score: 5-3. It was L.A.’s third series sweep against the Giants this season. It was the first time they swept them in a four-game series in SF since 1977.

Newly acquired J.D. Davis had given the Giants a 2-1 lead off Clayton Kershaw in the 2nd with a 2-run homer that clanged off the arcade tin in right.

Dodgers lose Clayton Kershaw, but sweep Giants behind Mookie Betts

https://www.truebluela.com/2022/8/4/23292311/dodgers-giants-clayton-kershaw-back-injury-mookie-betts-sweep

The Dodgers allowed only ten runs in a four-game sweep of the Giants, the first such sweep for Los Angeles in San Francisco since July 1-4, 1977. Mookie Betts and Trea Turner homered in the Dodgers’ 5-3 win on getaway day Thursday afternoon, but Los Angeles also lost Clayton Kershaw to a back injury.

Kershaw allowed two runs, one of them earned, in four innings, both runs coming on a two-run home run for J.D. Davis, San Francisco’s main trade-deadline acquisition. Davis hit a changeup, just the 11th thrown by Kershaw all season, and only the third put into — or, in this case, out of — play.

Mike Yastrzemski finished off the third inning with a flyout to shallow center, marking the 10,000th batter Kershaw faced in the regular season in his career. But Kershaw faced only three more batters, walking off the field with head trainer Thomas Albert during warm-up pitches in the fifth.

Garbers performance with Raiders

Expand full comment

I'd rather talk about Jordan Veasy's 2 catches for 16 yards, on 5 targets.

He and Garbers can go full Tercel offense for the Raiders.

Expand full comment

Fun to watch him do well- and the re-link with Veasey.

Expand full comment

A comments board on a Raiders fan site had folks picking him over Nick Mullens, though realistically he'll have to really shine to avoid the practice squad and take third string duties. But who knows.

He looked pretty good, good enough for a back-up at least.

He's far from perfect but he was the Pac-12 leader in total offense.

True, maybe they suck, not 100% sure - but - the one thing he did way better than as a QB for us was keep his eyes on the receiver and make the throw.
