It looks like in the Bay Area it's the East Bay hills, all the way to Northern and Western Lafayette. In Moraga it's just about all of it except for parts of Sanders and Larch, presumably because it's on the same circuit as the nursing home so they aren't shutting that down.
Of course due to the wind, we ended up losing it around 1230 AM anyways. So I started off at a coffee shop in WC in the patio so I could get some work done. All the power plugs were taken so once my laptop died I moved to a community resource center in Lafayette that PGE put up. Don't know when power will be back up at home.
And my internet and cable are out. I assume Comcast's substation is in the no power zone. I hope it's back by about 430 otherwise I'm going to have to head somewhere to watch.
Evacuated from my home in the Berkeley hills per the suggestion of the city and stayed overnight at the Doubletree. Winds only hit 41 MPH, though. So now I am back at home.
Not me, and I don't think I ever will because A) deep in the center of the city & B) I think we're next to critical infrastructure they don't want to shut off.
I live near the foot of the Oakland Hills, and last year when they were doing public safety shutoffs some of the online maps showed my house within the shutoff zone, but it never happened (and PG&E never notified us of anything). Now we're never included on the maps either. I guess that means we're not ever at threat of planned outages due to wind.
i went to only IU football game during my 8 yrs there from 92 to '00. i think it was a rivalry game vs Purdue and it wasnt even close to well attended.
on the other hand IU basketball was fun. all the Bobby Knight getting fired stuff happened in the era.
I've been buying the Noah's Monday special (12 for $8) and getting smoked salmon from Costco and making my own at home. It's good enough, but not quite as good as getting it fresh from a bagel place.
I vote straight ticket at the national level and usually at the state level, but I don't pay much attention to party affiliation for local elections. Instead I rely on the statements candidates provide in the voter guide (and if they couldn't be bothered to provide a statement, I can't be bothered to give them votes).
I will likely be voting straight party ticket for the foreseeable future except for elections in which "Democrat" Alex Villanueva runs for LA County Sheriff. He is as much a Democrat as North Korea is a democratic people's republic.
Watching subsets of British racing fans tie themselves in knots to find ways to say that he’s not all that good actually has been predictable and a bit pathetic
They're a handful. Lots of them are still in the phase of “black Briton says something about experiencing discrimination therefore they are making everything about race.” On a good day.
Clayton Kershaw out-pitched Tyler Glasnow for the second time in six days, and Dave Roberts’ confidence in rookie relievers paid off in the Dodgers’ 4-2 win over the Rays in Game 5 of the World Series on Sunday night in Texas.
The Dodgers, one day after suffering a crushing walk-off loss, now lead the Fall Classic three games to two, just one win away from their first championship in 32 years.
Kershaw wasn’t as sharp as he was in Game 1, but he did enough to get into the sixth inning, allowing only two runs. After getting 19 whiffs on 38 swings on Tuesday, Kershaw in Game 5 induced 41 swings and 11 misses.
Kershaw didn't have his best stuff but battled. And Margot helped him out with the steal home attempt. It was a decent decision, especially with Kershaw's slow set position. But Kiermaier was hitting and he did have a HR on a slider that didn't break in game 1.
May looked much much better, especially since he was told when he would come in and could properly prepare. Arozarena helped Victor Gonzalez by swinging at the changeup or hanging slider on the first pitch that was outsize. Graterol must have been sore if Treinan closed.
What an ending to game 4 though. Even with the win last night I don't think I've properly recovered from that loss.
Kershaw battled okay, but looked good by comparison because Glasnow REALLY didn't have it. Wild as hell.
Got a bit lucky that Arozarena's possible home-run ball hooked JUST foul in the first inning, and also that a guy tried to steal home(?!) and failed. But hey, that's baseball.
I also couldn't believe Arozarena almost got the HR on that pitch. That was down and in and he just got enough bat on it. He's like Vlad. He is a good bad-ball hitter. Like the RBI single in the 3rd. A good 6 inches up and he tomahawked it in the 5.5 hole.
Glasnow didn't pitch well in either of his starts in the WS. Snell will be a different matter Tues. He'll be tough. I hope they give Smith a day off and hit Pollack as the DH and have Barnes catch.

Seems like there's less bellyaching about them this year, though this recent one was pretty widespread. Anyone here affected?

see above.
It does look like most of N California napa and above are affected and parts of the East Bay Hills.

I honestly can't tell.
it was close and not definitive to overturn.
So, a definite maybe
Good idea at least...
It looked like the ball recoiled from impacting the ground just before it hit the pylon.
Of course, Penn State wouldn't have been in that position if they had run the clock out while they had a 21-20 lead with under 2 minutes remaining.
Looked like the leading tip of the ball was behind (past) the pylon on the side view shot. I was ok with the call standing.

Best bagel combination
Cream cheese and nova lox. Add onions and / or tomatoes if you have sub par lox.
hash browns, bacon and eggs, hold the bagel.
I do not like bagels.
you may like them in box
you may like them with a fox
Have them with a slice of lox
You may like them with a spread. You may like them while in bed.

Plain cream cheese on toasted poppyseed.

Just straight-up cream cheese, nothing fancy.
Just cream cheese for me as well, nice and toasty plain bagel

I rarely do. And it is typically when the Democratic candidate is awful.

not be too xenophobic, but the British seem unpleasant irl. not like thier pleasant entertainment personas.
