After carding an even-par 73 in Monday's first round, Miravitlles is among a group tied for 16th individually at 3-under, seven shots behind leader Anna Davis of Auburn. Senior Adora Liu, junior Jasmine Kahler and freshman Michelle Woo are all at 1-over for the tournament and in a group tied for 29th overall.

After having last week off the California women's soccer team is set to host No. 2 Stanford on Thursday in its regular season finale at Edwards Stadium with postseason implications on the line.
The Golden Bears (8-2-8, 4-1-4) come into the week on a four-match unbeaten streak that features two shutouts over Virginia Tech and Miami and two draws against No. 1 Virginia and No. 7 Florida State in matches in which they trailed 2-0.
Freshman Claire Weinstein of the No. 5 California women's swimming & diving team was named the ACC Swimmer of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.
Due to her international success as an Olympic medalist for Team USA, Weinstein's collegiate career has been highly anticipated, and this past weekend it lived up to the hype when Weinstein helped the Golden Bears to a great outing in their Tri-Meet with No. 3 Stanford and No. 18 Arizona State. The freshman won two individual races and helped her relay teams to a first-place finish and two second-place finishes.
Junior guard Lulu Twidale of the California women's basketball team has been named to this year's Ann Meyers Drysdale Award Watchlist, it was announced by the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame on Tuesday morning. The Ann Meyers Drysdale Award, in its ninth year, honors the top shooting guard in women's NCAA Division I college basketball. It is named after the class of 1993 Hall of Famer, the first player, regardless of gender, to be chosen for an All-America team in four consecutive college seasons.
IU and Stanford have nearly identical colors. i think that historically a lot of early faculty and traditions were taken from IU when Stanford first got started.
since i went to IU for grad school, it was strange having to have red/white colored gear. maybe that is why i never really got into IU sports even though basketball was very good overall in those days.
i was there until the end of the Bobby Knight era in 2000
David Starr Jordan (January 19, 1851 – September 19, 1931) was the founding president of Stanford University, serving from 1891 to 1913. He was an ichthyologist during his research career. Prior to serving as president of Stanford University, he served as president of Indiana University from 1885 to 1891.
Jordan arrived at Stanford in June 1891 and began recruiting faculty for the university's planned October opening. With such a short time frame he drew heavily on his own acquaintance in academia; of the fifteen original professors, most came either from Indiana University or his alma mater Cornell.
High School (Voorhees Regional HS, in NJ) - Cardinal and Gold. If I had stayed at Berkeley HS, my high school colors would have been Red and Gold, nearly the same.
College (UC Santa Cruz) - Blue and Gold
MLB - SF Giants - Orange and Black
MLB - Oakland (none of that Sacramento or Las Vegas nonsense) Athletics - Kelly Green and Gold
NFL - SF 49ers - Red and Gold
NFL - Oakland (none of that Las Vegas garbage) Raiders - Silver and Black
NBA - Golden State Warriors (bandwagon fan, that I am) - Golden Yellow and Blue
Just about all my teams are some shade of Blue: Cal Blue (and gold), UNC Blue, Dodgers blue, Sharks Teal, Warriors (bandwagon me). Then Raiders Silver and Black and teenage me Celtics Green.
The Los Angeles Clippers had won seven straight games against the Golden State Warriors. But with Chris Paul back in a Clippers jersey, the Warriors returned to their traditional stomping of the Clip Show in a 98-79 victory.
In CP3’s final three seasons in Los Angeles from 2014-17, the Warriors went 11-1 against the Clippers. Then Paul moved on the Houston Rockets, and the Warriors beat them in the playoffs in both years. Paul finally figured out how to stop the Warriors in the 2023-24 season — by joining the team.
It was a game of runs. Warriors came out strong and were up 15, then the Clippers went on like a 24-3 run to tie it up and go ahead. Then the Warriors went up 15 in the 2nd Q when Harden sat, then the Clippers went back up 6+ when Harden came back in. Then after halftime the Warriors didn't let Harden beat them (I think he didn't score in the 2nd half) and only allowed the Clippers to score 29 points in the 2nd half.
LOS ANGELES — Both teams were tired after a marathon Game 3, but the Blue Jays showed it less than the Dodgers, breaking through with a four-run seventh inning in a 6-2 win for Toronto in Game 4 of the World Series on Tuesday night at Dodger Stadium.
A Fall Classic that was tied as late of the sixth inning of Game 1, in the seventh inning of Game 2, the 18th inning of Game 3, and a one-run game in the seventh inning of Game 4 is now, fittingly, tied at two games apiece.
Seems more and more likely with each passing game. I remarked to Mrs Slug that with the series being tied at 2 wins apiece, it is now a best-of-3 series. She said, "Well, that sucks for one of them."
No truer words, spoken. Tonight's Game 5 could, indeed, be pivotal.
Me, too. It has the advantages of (1) minimizing travel, while (2) giving the team with the fewer home games the opportunity to close it out at home in Game 5 IF they win either Game 1 or Game 2 on the road.
It stands in contrast to the NBA Finals format of 2-2-1-1-1, which I find unnecessarily lengthy and it requires 5 travel days over a 7-game series. However, I think the length of the series is intentional from a marketing perspective. It also allows the players to recover after each game. No games in the NBA Finals are on consecutive days.

Monuments of the ancient world
my college-aged freshman kid in Rome is doing an oral report on the Sundial of Augustus for the Monuments class.
i had to explain what the meridian was to them and how the astronomical meridian is different from the geographic one.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solarium_Augusti
turns out that the Augustus one is for telling time of year, not time of day.
the worlds largest sundial that tells time is Jantar Mantar in the Jaipur India

They probably won't stay healthy, but when everyone is healthy on the Warriors they look like a real contender.

I don’t watch much basketball, but it seems that most games I see are games of runs.

my guess is that this series goes to game 7!

Dodgers O is looking real bad right now. If that isn't fixed, it doesn't matter how well or poorly the pitching does.
