Toronto on brink of home win at WS. goes up 3-2 in series on rookie pitcher's performance. 7 innings, 12 strikeouts!

I don’t have a rooting interest in this, but at this point I’m hoping it goes seven games. It’s been a helluva series.

I have two favorite teams - the Giants and whoever is playing the Dodgers.

It has been an excellent World Series. Good baseball and very interesting story lines.

I was a little surprised that Blake Snell has pitched so poorly in the World Series. But only a little, as he had a trashy first half in 2024 with the Giants. He righted the ship in the 2nd half and pitched really well towards the end of the season. In retrospect, his signing with the Dodgers was an overpriced FA signing based on his starts in the 2nd half of the 2024 season.

Come to think of it, Snell and Ohtani (as a pitcher) have been the weak spots in the Dodgers rotation. Yamamoto's pitching (one start) has been excellent in the Series. Hey, Yamamoto has started twice in the NLCS and the WS, and was stellar both times.

Glasnow has been good, but he gave up a critical walk in Game 3 that led to a run. Without that run, the Dodgers win in 9 innings, not 18.

The pattern with Snell was to have a rough start to the season and get stronger late, so this was kind of expected. The Dodgers had the kind of roster that can withstand the rough first half.

But yeah, the bad WS starts are a bit out of character. Or maybe the Blue Jays' lineup has just been really good.

This I think is the case. The Blue Jays, outside of Vlad, are not all that impressive until you watch them a bit and figure out how dogged a bunch of ballers they are.

Considering that 18 inning game, it could be like 8 games

true. then we would have to count the first half of that 18 inning game as a tie.

I have to admit that great pitching makes a good game great. Yamamoto has been bringing it in the playoffs. He's upholding the highest standards of the game in his performance.

California Golden Bears are about five-point underdogs to the Virginia Cavaliers.

this seems like a very low spread vs #15 in country. i suspect we are going to lose by 20.

It's because even though Virginia has won a lot, it has mostly been by the skin of their teeth.

We were 6.5 point dogs against a (then) 2-5 VT team last week, and the only reason why they covered was because of double overtime. I expected being at least a touchdown underdog, but what do I know?

Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry told reporters Wednesday that LSU athletic director Scott Woodward won't be involved in selecting the Tigers' new football coach, saying he'd let President Donald Trump do it before Woodward.

Actually, it makes sense when you realize that Woodward also hired Jimbo Fisher at Texas A&M and engineered what became the largest payout in college football history (roughly $75MM). Brian Kelly's buyout is 2ndhighest at an estimated $49.7MM.

I'm sure Landry is being hyperbolic by bringing Trump into the conversation.

i think it would be great if Trump picked the next coach and if the US govt took an equity stake in a struggling LSU football program.

maybe they could get some free Intel chips to help w/ their recruiting analytics!
