I am on Kauai Island, HI. Eating breakfast at the club lounge, and I see an old man with yellow block C Joe Roth cap. Will try to give him Go Bears on the way out.
[Dook] The portal giveth & taken. The Blue Devils lost two pretty good QBs but gain back one of the top QBs in the portal - Mensah from Tulane. Cal plays against Duke @ home in 2025.
If the Seminoles hadn't crapped the bed *all season long* this latest development wouldn't have happened. Florida State would still be pressing for an exit from the ACC.
Yeah, no. Count me as surprised that Belichick took a job in college football. He's 72 and now he's going to be involved in recruiting, even strictly as a closer? Seems we've seen this act before, right here in the Bay Area.
I’m excited. Great for the conference. I hope he has success, just not against us. I was so freaked out when Furd hired Walsh. Turned out to be good for us.
It's my understanding that there will also be a GM role that will be in charge of recruiting and NIL, so those two items are off Belichick's responsibility list (other than of course giving his particular feedback as to targets/skills/final player selection). He had some kind of gazillion page plan outlined as to how it would all work and UNC had to be ok w/ the plan/responsibilities structure/hiring of a GM.
The concept of a GM for a college football team is just another step towards mimicking the NFL. College football is no longer what it was when it started in 1869 close to the banks of the Raritan. The bonds with the sponsoring institution become more tenuous with each passing year.
Isn't this the same thing they did with Mack Brown? Brown didn't seem like he would be in for the long haul simply because of age (even though it turned out that he was just awful...in all ways). Both Brown's hire and now Belichick's hire is all about name and apparently not about much substance.
I'm fuzzy on the parameters of Mack Brown's employment with UNC the 2nd time around. I was thinking specifically of Bill Walsh in his second stint at Stanf*rd. Walsh was to be "the HC emeritus" who would develop his staff to build a powerhouse program that would propel them towards blueblood status, or so it was hoped.

I would say it might be my brother, but he’s on Maui.
I am in Paris. It makes me wonder why Americans settle for such terrible bread. We suck.
It's amazing that you can get such good baguettes for like 1.5 euros.

Should we send flowers to Mike Norvell?
They may have also found that it was going to be a lot harder to break the ACC agreement than originally expected.
And then there's the question of a landing spot: the B1G and the SEC don't seem to be interested in expanding right now.
All of that points to FSU's arrogance and greed. And to a similar extent, Clemson's, since they also filed suit to exit the ACC.
Until further notice, the GOR appears to be bulletproof.
Certainly not for a team that just went 2-10.
Rich Rod back to WVU

Second acts at the same school rarely are as fruitful as the first act. Maybe this will be an exception? TBD.
Color me skeptical.
Ok. Now Cal has to play against arguably the greatest football coach of all time starting in 2025.

My understanding that Michael Lombardi is BB's choice for GM.

At least Brown was actually a college coach.
His girlfriend wanted to hang out more at her sorority.
