Took me a while to remember what other countries are in the area.

That outline/shape looks distinct and familiar but I can't remember which country it is. I want to guess in one try so I'm gonna think about it for a while before I make a guess

Someone had asked what the scores mean. Here is the description from their website. Lower is better.

Lower scores are better in the Daily and Sequence Games. Higher scores are better in Rescue games.

The numeric score is designed intentionally and does not penalize missed words very much. Instead the numeric score is designed to show overall performance in the game. It rewards answering words earlier more than it penalizes missing words. Answering more words than somebody else is obviously better and deserving of bragging rights. The score offers a way to see who was more efficient with their guesses.

got Wordle in 2 on Sun but i didnt have anyone to tell that would be excited

low skill today as i picked a letter in round 3 that was guaranteed to be wrong

> There was only one possible solution left — and this wasn’t it. XXXXX couldn’t be a possible solution, because your previous guesses suggest that an X couldn’t be the fifth letter.

Got it in 6. Should've been 5 but in a rush I typoed one letter on the 5th word. Changed browsers and reset cookies in my old browser attempting to fix a lagging issue. I don't know what email I was using for access so I don't have wordlebot.

heyalumnigo's avatar

Oh I guess I had to use the wordlebot link not the standard NYT Wordle link.

Moderators- thanks for keeping DBD going! Hopefully W4C will be getting a bunch of returning readers/commenters as the football season gears up. To further upcoming DBD engagement, might be a good idea to set the Digital Diversions topic at the very end of the topic list so people coming into DBDs get the other discussion topics first/easily (sometimes it takes a while to scroll through the wordle etc comments).

HeyStudentsBears's avatar

agreed .. but i am not sure if we can control the placement of the topics?

can investigate ..

there is sort feature, oldest, newest, top post.

not sure makes something the top.

i was also hoping that upcoming football season will help w/ readership and engagement.

heyalumnigo's avatar

Hmm...that's an interesting idea. It does depend on how you sort. I think the default is Top first so it sorts the lines with the most likes at the top. I use newest first.

I suppose one idea is to just make it first and then rest of the topics after that.

Fingers crossed we get more readers once football starts back up. We don't send out emails or put ourselves at the top of the front page because we don't want to be above any WFC articles.

AndyPanda's avatar

Football season will coincide with engagement; it always does. Even if DOOOOM is the theme.

Slovenia is my favorite country in the eastern Adriatic. I liked it more than Croatia. Slovenia is more culturally Germanic, so it has more emphasis on efficiency and orderly society. It is naturally beautiful, like northern Italy. And not a lot of people live there. I've also, as it happens, visited the Melania Trump statue in the middle of a field for her home town before it was burned and then subsequently stolen.

In retrospect, seems kind of amazing that Yugoslavia held together for as long as it did.

HeyStudentsBears's avatar

when we went hiking in Montenegro a few years back everyone told us how lush and green and gorgeous Slovenia was and how it should be at the top of our hiking destinations.

i also would love to go to Trieste which is the easternmost part of Italy

Gabby Williams Scores 18 Points, Hits Four 3-Pointers in 2026 All-Star Game

https://valkyries.wnba.com/news/gameday-recap-20260725

Gabby Williams shined in her first All-Star start, scoring 18 points and sinking four 3-pointers in the 2026 AT&T All-Star Game at United Center on Saturday. Williams dished out six assists, grabbed five rebounds and didn’t commit any turnovers in just under 23 minutes of action. She had the best plus-minus in Team Coop’s starting lineup (-1) in their 129-122 loss to Team Spoon.

Ballers comeback falls short in series finale loss to Hawks (7-6)

https://www.oaklandballers.com/sports/bsb/2026/releases/202607272pmdhm

OAKLAND, CA – The Oakland Ballers' (4-8, 26-34) ninth inning comeback fell short on Sunday afternoon as they dropped the series finale to the Boise Hawks (7-5, 30-30) by a final score of 7-6 at Raimondi Park.

No more challenges, no more sweep (Giants lose to the Angels 4-3)

https://www.mccoveychronicles.com/san-francisco-giants-scores-standings/109622/no-more-challenges-no-more-sweep

Swept, sure. Six times now. But to sweep? Nah, it just ain’t to be.

The San Francisco Giants are now 0-5 with the chance to sweep a 3+ game series after their 4-3 loss to the Angels. It’s not just their opponents or their own self-sabotage keeping the broom in the cupboard — the umpires are doing their part as well.

A Taylor-made comeback helps Mets defeat Dodgers 8-3

https://www.truebluela.com/dodgers-scores-standings/120503/dodgers-mets-game-recap

The Dodgers were 12 outs away from sweeping the New York Mets, but the bullpen allowed seven unanswered runs as the team ended their nine-game road trip on a whimper.

Both pitchers put multiple men on base while throwing over 20 pitches in the first inning, but it was the Mets taking the first lead with a Francisco Lindor single against Emmet Sheehan to plate A.J. Ewing.

MLB Hall of Fame

This year’s class was especially active in its travels. Carlos Beltrán played for seven teams, Jeff Kent played for six and Andruw Jones played for five. All are richer for the journey.

Beltran should never sniff the HOF. Spearheading the Asstrisks sign stealing scandal should mean he's not eligible for the HOF.

amazing photo finish in Paris on the final stage of the Tour this year. one of the best finishes in years.

Mathieu van der Poel and Pogacar leave everyone behind on the Montmartre hill and then try to hold off the chasing peloton in 8 km dash to the line.

MVDP wins by half a bike length as he is nearly caught by the sprints. his teammate Phillipsen was leading the charge but backed of just enough at the end.

perfect timing

nice recap article

HeyStudentsBears's avatar

will be interesting to see if/when Pogacar goes for Tour victory #6. he currently seems unbeatable and only 27 in the prime of his career

napabear's avatar

Should be able to win at least 2-3 more, barring injury.

HeyStudentsBears's avatar

while no one else was at his level, there were 3-4 others that were super young that might find another level in the coming years.

napabear's avatar

Seixas and Del Toro are AMAZING for being only 19 and 22, respectively.
