The Bair House is one of California’s premier examples of Queen Anne architecture. Built in 1888 for Dr. Fred Bangs, it is attributed to architects Samuel and Joseph Newsom. This is a house of complex rooflines, corner towers, gables, bays, and a richly textured surface of patterned shingles and applied ornamentation. Most notable is its horseshoe entrance and balustrade, lavishly decorated spindle-work and Eastlake ornamentation. The same architects were responsible for the Carson Mansion in Eureka.

Johnson: [Noticing Dr. Evil's spaceship on radar] Colonel, you better have a look at this radar.
Colonel: What is it, son?
Johnson: I don't know, sir, but it looks like a giant--
Jet Pilot: Dick.
Dick: Yeah?
