Believe it or not, they are playing very well. considering what happened last year, anything is good, however, they must get much better to hand Uber ACC next year. we'll know where they're gonna be in the future when they play Ucla Arizona and the top teams in. The pac 12.

UCLA is a much worse team than they were last season - they still are probably better than we are right now but they’re no longer a lock for post season

Thank you for the well thought out evaluation of the season so far. Anyone paying attention can see the program is headed in the right direction. The coaching staff is on point. The noise is returning to Haas.

I hadn’t realized Jaylon Tyson had another year of eligibility. I hope he is enjoying his time at Cal and can hang around for one more season.

The big question is can Mad Dog recruit? I don’t think that will be a problem. The signing of the PG out of Georgia is a good start but hope to hear of others.

On the tactical side I’m not really nerdy but does the system we are running have any relation to what MM has exposed to playing for Phil Jackson and the Lakers?

I don’t think any other sports mind could give as great explanations as yourself. You should be in ESPN

I really appreciate your article and I agree that I see so much reason for hope, despite the record. My only concern now is the presence of so many one and done players, especially Aimaq, and yet I trust Madsen to build a team that competes hard inside. We are going to do some good things this year, surprise some people, and that's a great thing indeed.

The roster needed the overhaul as part of the rebuild. I dont see is having 4 one and done players next year. Rodney Brown looks like he will grow. Larson and Curtis provide us with at least 3 more years. It will be interesting to see if Tyson returns or tests the NBA waters.

I was thinking about Aimaq and Kennedy and Cone and maybe Tyson. If they all leave that's the bulk of our starting 5. I'm not sure but thought they were all in their final year of eligibility. Aimaq is clearly the central figure of this team and no one else on the roster can replace him, so I'm hoping the coaches are working on a new big man for next year.

The P12 honestly really doesn't look too good this year. We may to better than initially expected in conference. But like everyone's saying, it doesn't even matter if we don't. Trust the Process.

Arizona, Colorado, Oregon and maybe UW are the only ones that have been consistent so far. Still, the middle is a jumble and the 5-10 spots could be within a game of each other.

Making progress. Can definitely see where we're headed. Still need more consistency, though I think you're right that it results from a hole at PG. Hopefully Askew can return strong and unlearn last year.

There was obviously a talent gap between us and Ole Miss (who was under-ranked and is finally getting credit). We'll probably see that happen again against Arizona, but there's still information to glean beyond "recruit more blue chippers."

I agree 100%. This team is well-coached and plays with great energy. They've only been blown out once and it wasn't terrible. I said at the beginning of the season 10 wins is a success. I now believe they can reach 12 wins. That means the Bears will still be far down in the standings but it will be huge leap from last year. Madsen is building a winning atmosphere.

The real question is, assuming M2 does turn around the program, is can we keep him? Or is Cal just a stop along the way for Madsen to get the job he really wants (whatever that is).

I hope we actually have this problem in a couple years, as that means he has Cal on the strong upward trend and we are a hot program.
