In other words, we’ll form a committee to draft a plan to consider the consequences of using a study group to evaluate options surrounding current circumstances that may be addressed by delving further into avenues of discussion that may portend identifying paths forward…

I wonder if he talks to his team like that before they take the field. No wonder they often seem confused. :(

Reminds me of the kindergarten teacher who spoke sharply to her pupils: “Either stand up or sit down! I must be obeyed!!”

Can I quote you on this? That's about the best, most accurate, and funniest portrayal of these sorts of things I've ever read!

Think Pappy Waldorf or Ray Willsey spoke like that?

Here's a question: are there any coaches TODAY that speak like Pappy, Willsey or Smith (and, more to the point, are they available)? Seems to me that Wilcox is the prototypical coach-speak guy and is no different from any other major college coach.

Yep. Similar to those 6 second interviews, when the attractive on field 'analyst' asks the Coach as he's rushing to the locker room, whose team is losing 27-3, "what's your plan for the 2nd half?"

I’d love a coach to blow out a shit-gets-real answer to the on field attractive. Expletives would be a bonus.

This will never happen for myriad reasons, but for the sake of conversation, what if Ryan Day is let go at OSU and Chip Kelly becomes available?

They would draw some recruits..

Also, Kelly has been somewhat a disaster since He left Oregon...

I haven't read the article but, just FYI the UCLA Bruins has fired Eric Bienemy ( possible wrong spelling) .. He would be a great fit. Once upon a time he was a guru in the NFL with Patrick Mahomes. He once was considered for a HC job in the NFL. Let's take a chance

UCLA had one of the worst offenses in ALL of D1 college football. I'm pretty comfortable laying a lot of the blame at the hands of the offensive coordinator.

Parsing it out:

"Justin Wilcox announced Tuesday there will be a change in leadership to the offensive staff." There will be a new OC.

"Importantly, no one has been let go—we’re simply making a few adjustments to improve."

Bloesch is staying as the OL coach.

"Mike Bloesch is still on staff, but that the plan for playcalling for Cal’s future bowl game is up in the air."

The new OC may be here in time for the bowl game.

I'm not at all worried about this prospect. Nando is back. Will be compensated and there will be attempts to shore up the OL. Whether it will work is another thing, but there are no guarantees that more $ and the promise of a better team is always the slam dunk it's made out to be (see Uiagaleilei). He knows this and would be given up a lot for still a good bit of uncertainty. Next year is another matter though.

Gilbert does not have a good record and by what other folks say, including kids that played for him seems like there is very little respect for that coach. I wouldn't want my son playing for him. And Wilcox illustrates lack of leadership with that word jargon. When will they fire him?
