It really seems like Lyons is taking setting a winning organizational structure seriously. You can definitely see the business background.
Now I hope they reform the football marketing so that fans and alumni get the “college” feel at games. If you look at other successful programs it is clear a tradition-rich college environment can be wildly successful.
It’s time to mic the band and cut a lot of the piped in stuff.
I've been saying this since we reopened memorial..the Game day experience is critical to success and I've never felt it has been given the attention it deserves. Whether is micing the band, ensuring the Mic men/women are up to the task, providing world class tailgating venues and more, we can and must do SO much better.
Total side note: I don’t think the band has made cuts since the Tedford era. I wonder if they will have to in the next few seasons if football gets as popular as it could be.
This is the final step to insure that Cal puts the best possible team on the field, with the Canceller, RR, and Tosh are now working as one (contracted) team. Go Bears!
They've been significantly demoted but someone still needs to manage the non-revenue sports. I'm not sure how their salaries have been adjusted or whether they were already being paid at a reduced rate compared to Knowlton when they took over.
Proof will be what we see on the field, starting with UCLA on September 5th. This indeed sounds like an organization designed to meet the challenges of the way D1 ball is played today, both on and off the field, driven by money, snap counts and exposure.
Nice!
Love to see a sense of urgency from the program, given all that is at stake with potential realignment.
Good news! So much progress has been made under his leadership.
Finally! Thought I never see this happen in my life time.

This is the way.
Just a thought:
Football, has its own GM and AD.
Men’s basketball, has its own GM,
Women’s basketball, has its own GM.
The top three revenue producing sports on campus have its own leadership and persons overseeing daily operations…
What the heck are the Co-Athletics Directors doing then?!

Got my tickets to the fUCLA game! Want to be witness to kicking off this new era.
based on their recruiting they seem to be in an new era down there too.
Yes indeed a new proactive era at Cal. Exciting stuff. The UCLA game is going to be crazy, and I am so looking forward to it!
All righty then…LFG Bears!
