Is the (relatively) new swim complex having an impact on Cal's diving program? Is it getting stronger?

Not this year because Cal somehow only has one guy (a sophomore transfer from Cal Poly) and scored dead last in the diving portion of this meet.

We did have two guys qualified for the NCAA two years ago, but one graduated and the other (I believe) medically retired. They definitely benefited from not having to travel to Stanford to train for platform diving, but Cal's not yet getting divers of the same caliber as our swimmers.

I don't know if the Bears will do it, but they are capable of winning every swimming event at this meet. The Bears already won the 800-yard freestyle relay and 400-yard medley relay on Sunday night.

They're well on their way to doing so. The two events that worry me even the slightest if they're aiming for this is are the 100-yard fly and the 200-yard breast. In 2019, Cal scored in every event and even had multiple scorers in all but 3 individual swimming events. That's an incredible feat that few teams in recent history have been able to do. This is a team without where the main weakness is probably have 10 multi-event NCAA scorers instead of 12 or 14 multi-event NCAA scorers. For the non-swimming fans, it's like when Alabama only has a high-4* on their two-deep instead of another 5* as the backup.
