Thanks everyone for the kind words. I plan on cover cal baseball long term, so I'm very open to the ideas that I'm reading from everyone in the comments. But one step at a time. I look forward to engaging with you all in the future :) Have a great day
Congratulations, and condolences. I'm sure you will pour your heart & soul into covering the program. It's a worthy pursuit, given the long and (sometimes) glorious history of Cal Baseball. Beating Yale for the first CWS title in 1947, then repeating 10 years later. From nearly winning it all again in 1980 before being upset by Arizona in the semifinals, to nearly being canceled before through sheer force of will storming into Omaha in 2011. I look forward to reading your stuff eagerly.
Condolences in that I'm not sure the current Cal coaching staff has either the resources or the ability to lift the team back to those heights. In this dark time of openly buying players, the Bears had their core gutted like a fish in the Pacific market in Seattle. But even WITH those players, Cal was a complete afterthought in the ACC, despite their brief run in the tournament. Add in the severe financial stress on the entire department, and it might be a miracle if the club can survive another potential elimination. I REALLY hope I'm wrong, but I fear the situation is beyond dire. 🙏 for the result to be a benefactor or benefactors to fully endow the program and turn around this malaise. GO BEARS!!!
Awesome! There are innumerable ways to cover Cal Baseball, in as much as the baseball alums and history, recent and current roster, memorable plays/games, statistical breakdowns, Evans reflections by fans, etc. are ripe for harvesting. Can’t wait to get into it. Cal Baseball lives! Go Bears.

Thank you David. Go Bears…

Excellently put, BR! I share your sentiments but am rooting hard for survival and advancement of the program.
I’m happy to see this article and dedication toward Cal Baseball! Keep up the good work!
Similarly, I was also @ Cal during the Andrew Vaughn days. #3 overall pick in MLB Draft! Simply not talked about enough around Cal athletics.
I’m also a diehard Chicago White Sox fan (pls no jokes lol), so I’ve seen a lot of Vaughn’s time in the majors!
Go Bears!
Welcome! College baseball is definitely not covered enough and I’m excited for your contributions.
Cool

Nice work! Pa Chitwood played 4 seasons at Evans for the Bears back in the day, so Cal baseball remains a family favorite.
Thanks David. Look forward to reading your work.
Fantastic! I love going to the games and look forward to being able to get more information about the team.
Looking forward to your coverage! I remember going to games and seeing Lance Blankenship and Jerry Goff in the 80's!
