IF this game happens, I'll be intrigued to see how UW's tackles perform, as both are new starters at that position. Their LT will probably be fine as he performed well at a different role last year, but it's still a shuffle and you never know.
Thanks so much. Great stuff. QB play wins and loses games. Duh. They will not be as good as last year, and we beat them, at home. Our O is simply more experienced and at least as talented. Our D is comparable. We win this game 7or 8 out of 10. Go Bears! Continue to crush the little dogs with mighty Bear Roars!
Looking forward to the game. I hope there is a bit of a drop off in their running back play. The last two backs they have featured, Myles Gaskin and Salvon Ahmed were pretty good. If they can't run the ball successfully on the Bears and have to rely on the passing game with an unproven (at least at the Pac-12 level) quarterback then I think that is a recipe for a Cal victory.
Two questions: are any of the mystery QBs a running threat at all (enough that they’ll play the QB shuffle depending on game situation), and is there O-line in shape to open holes for their stable of RBs, or will it just depend on their running talent level?
Kevin Thomson is the only quarterback that is a threat on his legs. Jacob Sirmon is definitely not a running threat, and Dylan Morris is probably not much of a running threat. Ethan Garbers considers himself to be a more pure passer than his brother Chase, but considers Chase to be more athletic. My understanding is that he is mobile, but is always looking to pass first. I have not seen Morris nor Garbers against college competition (or even in practices), so it's hard to really get a beat on it. If I had to guess, I'd order their running ability: Thomson, Garbers, Morris, Sirmon.
Good question on the offensive line, I probably should have written a bit about them in the article. This offensive line will likely not be as strong as they were in years prior (although this is UW, so it's not like they're hurting for talent), as they lost 3 of their 5 starters (Trey Adams, Nick Harris, Jared Hilbers). LG Luke Wattenberg has moved to center and RG Jaxson Kirkland has moved to LT, so there will essentially be an all-new offensive line for Washington. I don't know if they're in shape or not (especially during the pandemic), but UW's line a ton of size and can definitely wear a team down.

Really great preview! Absolutely love the structure of having the gifs embedded to show the person/point you're making.
If it's Sirmon, how weird must it be having to dial up blitzes and root against your nephew for an evening??

Thanks for the Preview, CH.
