I'm with Berkelium97 and Nick on this one. We will be dominant, they will score a few, maybe late in the game against our reserves, and Coach W won't run up the score.
Why do the top teams with big aspirations beat teams like this 77-3 but Cal under Wilcox never does? Should JW change his approach to these types of games? IMO Cal doesn't have the luxury of letting off the gas; they need as many points/stats as possible to raise their stature as a program. And regardless, there's nothing unsportsmanlike about playing to win and score the entire game. I hope they get a big lead with the starters, then play the backups but call the same offensive and defensive plays so the backups get real reps don't just hand the ball off and play bend don't break zone.
Score 37-10. I expect the starters on the o-line in there for a while since they need game experience together. Many receivers playing. After several TDs through the air, tons of running. Possibly both Brown and Caminong at QB. An extra field goal attempt or two in situations that they might go for it in a more competitve game. Lots of guys playing on the D, with earlier subs than the o-line.
Would be lots of fun to see De Jesus break a kick. Don't miss the Ocean of Soul at halftime.
Given the propensity of Wilcox-coached teams to 'play with their food' against inferior FCS opponents, I think a statement needs to be made tomorrow. If things are really going to be different this year, no more of this letting them hang around for three quarters bs. Bury them early and don't look back. I'd love 70, would settle for 60, and think the bar should be dropping 50. So naturally, 28-17 with a 'winning's hard' and 'they've got some darn good players' postgame presser incoming...
Unless JW leaves his hands off Harsin and the O, I don't see Cal running up the score as much as the above predictions. I predict the GBs will run the ball 80% in the 2nd half to gel the OL and find out who our go to running back(s) will be.

Sounds like we should win this one. Sorry I can't make the game; I hear the band is excellent.

Those other teams do let off the gas. Their 3rd strings are just also scoring on these teams.

I was pretty darn close on the score. Glad they established a RB1. Really only down side is STUPID Uluave penalty

Agree but add that this is a game to sharpen fundamentals—blocking, tackling, running routes, perhaps more kicking game than we need.
No need for “fancy” or tricks that we might want to introduce against a conference (or stronger) opponent.
Plus “game experience” for those who are second string.
Didn't see a bazillion to zero, Cal, on here. Which is obviously the only correct answer.
