Cal had singular explosive scoring plays, but no sustained drives. It's no wonder our defense wilted in the 4th quarter. We will need a more complete game to win on the road.

Miami exposed our shortcomings in talent and depth on the offensive line. I would heed what Christopher H. said and rally to optimism.

I like the sunshine pumping but I refuse to be Charlie Browned on this one. Pitt is hot, we are not. We have no functional offensive line or run game. We lose. I hate saying that, but never bet on a team that loses in the trenches.

We’re like 6 points away from being undefeated. That’s just as good right..

Pitt has given up at least 24 pts in every game except against crummy Youngstown State. Maybe Cal can score a bit? Who is the savant who said you can win on the road with a good D? I'm slightly hopeful.

I like Christopher's prediction, but I still don't have any feel or idea how this game will go. Pitt is going with their blue-on-blue uniforms and apparently Cal is going with all white unis and yellow hats. Its already kind of weird. Go Bears and win a game for heaven's sake!

Cal had gold helmets and pants with white jerseys vs Auburn, so maybe the gold and white scheme will work again.

I honestly have no idea what to expect, so I default to:

"I have a bad feeling about this," while secretly hoping that by saying so, events are in our favor.

True.

This is a yet another huge game for Wilcox: one more opportunity to get over the hump with a signature win on the road v. an undefeated, ranked conference opponent.

Would love to see it - it easily becomes one of his top 3 victories in 7.5 years. Gotta run the football and pressure the quarterback…

For all the talk about this being a “softer” schedule, it’s actually not even close to an easy one.

Evil Jimmy, let me speak to good Jimmy.

Good Jimmy, last year's team did not beat Auburn, at home.

Got blown out by top ten teams.

We're making progress Jimmy.

How many wins for the season and Evil Jimmy will concede another season to Wilcox?

I'll be pretty excited at 8.

Good Jimmy was here all Miami week…good Jimmy was here at GameDay…good Jimmy was here for 58 minutes and 18 seconds Saturday night from the bleachers at CMS…

Letting a future NFL WR go untouched for 77-yards with the game on the line unfortunately put good Jimmy to bed.

And it’s not Evil Jimmy…it’s Realistic Jimmy…sad, but that’s where we’re at.

Just. Sad.

You're so hot to fire Wilcox, then will you chip in to pay off his contract which is good for the next 3 years and pay the minimum of at least $4 mil for a new established coach? I'm not. I want a new OC and DC and with our academic restrictions to get and pay for some really good O linemen.

Respectfully, Geoff, it’s not just me. Look around - most legit Cal fans have already turned on him, especially after this latest awful effort. Not sure you saw the Game Day event/experience last weekend but this fanbase IS passionate. The college football world finally saw that…the next round of realignment is crucial, and Cal needs to be a part of it. Continuing along with Wilcox is a ticket to irrelevance and mediocrity, two things Cal football simply can not afford.

I am not sure you understand how the process works. You and I are not paying this, nor is the university.

We’re gonna give Wilcox yet ANOTHER OC? Why? It’s year 8, man. More time? Yikes.

His leadership IS the problem. He’d have gotten the boot at any other Power school years ago.

It honestly really is a softer schedule than the PAC-12. We just played the two most talented rosters in the conference and should have beaten both. We're just playing down to the level of talent like we always do.

If we had average P5-level recruiting, our offensive line wouldn't consistently be one of the worst in power football. Instead, the few stars we had transferred out and we're desperately trying to refill through the transfer portal (successfully). You cannot build a roster through the transfer portal. You need to build your roster through HS recruiting, and then build depth with the transfer portal. We're in a death spiral if we don't turn around recruiting *immediately*.

Well, it’s certainly softer than last season’s P12, that’s for sure.

But it’s not softer than the P12 that Wilcox struggled with for the majority of his 8 seasons. Syracuse could very well be 7-2 when they come to town, and SMU will likely be top-20…

People keep saying we just played the 2 most talented teams…guess we’ll see tomorrow if this Cal team is actually any different or if it’s just more of the same under Wilcox.

I coached and played long enough to know that football is full of nepotistic hires and extensions and that we switched to a zone look in the second half with the lead every single game this season and the other team’s number one receiver has gashed us each time. We have the nation’s best secondary and this dude is abandoning man and switching to prevent each time.

And each time KLS, Douglas, and Restrepo have burned us when they found themselves matched up against our nickleback in zone as opposed to Williams or Harris in man.

I call garbage coaching as I see it and not being accountable and blaming your players for acting like a little b when the officials hose you like notre Dame 2 years ago is just more negative on ye olde resume

The switch to zone in 2nd half of Miami was terrible mistake. This led to the horrible “busted coverage” that gifted Miami a 60 or so yard wide open pass when we had them bottled up at their own 8. No way that happens if it’s man. And btw we never adjusted to that Restrepo dude just running all over the place catching passes (short and long).
