I see Moore being the starter and getting at least half of the carries. He's got NFL vision but unfortunately with FCS speed. One of the juniors will step up as the second back, the other as #3 but gradually lose snaps to Ott, and probably transfer at the conclusion of the season.
I seem to recall that Moore got into the doghouse last year and lost PT for repeated fumbles that started with the overtime game against Washington. There is nothing more demoralizing to an offense than having a running back fumble away a possession or in the Washington game a chance for a win. Let's hope he has that cured without taking away his ability to find a crease and go.
The Cal curse continues. The best running back on the team is within a yard of the goal line in an overtime game that if Cal finds a way to win will change the course of the season. Instead, he takes a head shot and fumbles because of it and is never the same all season. I could go back in time and find a bunch of things like that. But the one that sticks out is the 93 season when Cal is 5-0 and leading Washington at Memorial before Dave Barr is slammed to the hard turf and suffers a collarbone injury. As soon as he came out of the game, the momentum changed and Cal lost to Washington that day and proceeded to dump the next four games until he returned at the end of the season.
It's the curse of not being a powerhouse program. The real strength behind the USCs, Bamas, tOSUs is their depth. When someone goes down, they have a blue chip to step right in. By the time we go to our 3 deep, we're screwed against better competition.
Yep. This year might be shaping up like 2016 when transfer Davis Webb came in and played well all season. But imagine if he had gone down with injury? The backups that year were Chase Forrest, Max Gilliam, Victor Viramontes and Ross Bowers. Bowers played well enough in 2017, but would he have been at all ready in 2016? It's the same question to ask about this year with Kai Milner waiting in the wings but apparently not really pressing Plummer at all for the starting job.
I was going to mention similarly, pass pro is probably not the final piece re: how much Moore continues to see the field, but taking care of the football.
Regarding the Washington fumble -- he gets a pass on that one. That was a bad head hit that almost certainly was a concussion, and we're just lucky it wasn't a worse head injury (and who evens know if it already will affect him later in life). The fact that he wasn't seriously hurt (that we know of), is a major positive from that day, win or lose. Frankly, I think a lot of fans on this site dont understand how serious that incident could have been, when they're quick to bring up Moore's fumbling issues and reference that example.
But yeah, there were other instances when he fumbled and he definitely will need to focus on taking care of the ball, which I'm sure coach AT et al. have had him focusing.
Sounds like a medium dose of Moore and committee for the remainder of the backs. The problem seems to be when to trot out each back based on the situation.

I don't get the creative part.
You are way overanalyzing.
People use proper nouns as adjectives all the time.
You could say "he's showing off NFL speed" or "Olympic speed" or that Cal football has "Tercel offense"
I'll take a compliment wherever I can get one.

We were told this fall camp that he was injured on that play. And from the tea leaves it might be that he never fully recovered in season.

And IIRC the player that hit him is now a current Cal player: Sirmon.
Let's hope the running game will give balance to a possession offense.
Get Stredick the damn ball!!
His Hudl tape is remarkable. I guess small school competition in Texas but his burst appears very powerful.
I’ve watched him a few times in these fall scrimmages and he always jumps out.

Musgrave should get some split back formations to get more of these guys on the field and put some fear into defenses.
