The Good, The Bad, and The Rock Fights: Cal vs. Auburn Football
A familiar script. A depressingly familiar outcome.
After about 55 minutes of defensive struggles, a touchdown in the waning minutes decides the game. Does that sound familiar? It should. We have seen this exact scenario numerous times under Wilcox: 2019 Big Game, 2021 at UW, 2021 at Oregon, 2021 at Arizona, 2022 at Colorado, and most recently, 2023 vs. Auburn. It’s a script for a typical Wilcoxian rockfight, a type of game defined by defensive prowess and offensive struggles. This week’s matchup against Auburn certainly had the feel of a classic rockfight, but did the evaluators at PFF feel the same way with their grades?
