Looked like the D-Line just disappeared.

The only good thing about this game is that Hawaii got a really good win for their program. I watched a few of their games this year because my other team, SDSU, is in the Mtn west, and Hawaii played really tough this season; those dudes are serious about football, regardless of their stature.

This is a day that many in the world celebrate hope becoming reality. I have hope that Cal next year may see hope becoming real also!

Merry Christmas everyone and it was another memorable season riding it through it all with you - the highs and the lows (and we still have JKS)

This was a lot like the Virginia Tech game. Good start on both sides, then the defense disintegrated in the second half. The VT game is actually a bit more annoying because that was mainly a case of schematic ineptitude while this game featured more general ineptitude.

Have stuff to do today and it was getting late on the east coast so went to bed after the third quarter. Thank goodness I missed the fourth.

I think that I speak for all Cal Football fans when I say that it is SO HARD TO ROOT FOR THE BEARS!!!!!! Just when you think that, maybe, they are going to turn things around since they played so well against SMU and Louisville, and they go and simply break your heart. How the fuck do keep managing to blow double digit leads? Miami last year, Duke, Virginia and Hawaii this year. Even some of our wins (see BC, Louisville, SMU) were real nail biters where the outcome was in doubt until the very end. We all know that Cal needs O-lineman and wide receivers to take the pressure off of JKS but I hope that Coach Tosh recruits some big, nasty d-lineman who can generate pressure on the quarterback. Even when we took that brief lead tonight with less than two minutes left, I knew that we were probably toast. There was ABSOLUTELY ZERO PRESSURE on both of their qb's. No wonder they simply marched down the fileld and scored the winning TD. I'm beyond thrilled that JKS is staying for another year but, like almost everything around Cal Football, I guess I will have to temper my expectations. Sigh.....

This kind of game freaks me out that JKS says thanks but no thanks. Whe. You look at the game stats it makes no sense that we lost. But at the same it felt we were lucky to even be in it at the end

I think we all need to calm down. There are extremely necessary changes to our program coming, and this just happened to be an example of that. None of those changes can bear fruit until the new prople actually get here.

This was a Wilcox game with a Wilcox team that simply didn’t include Wilcox anymore.

I disagree. I attended my first Cal Bear game in 1956. Took my son to many games in the 70's and 80's. Watched my nephew start on the offensive line for four years in the 90's. Followed our "Loveable Losers" for over 65 years.

This was not a "Wilcox game" or a "Wilcox team". This was a typical Cal Bear game, played by a typical Cal Bear team whose job, it seems, is to break the hearts of anyone who dares to hope. I, finally, accepted that a few years ago and have kept my heart intact for about half a decade.

Watched the first half in real time, then had to get a few things done, and just finished watching the second half.

Wow what a terrible second half. That was a typical Wilcox second half melt down without Wilcox actually being there. I guess our whole defensive coaching staff needs to go. Good thing Tosh knows a thing or two about defense.

We also need more explosiveness on offense. Hope Tosh got that too.

Merry Christmas to everyone except Jim Knowlton and Justin Wilcox.

I just can’t believe our defense got schooled like this. Rolo knows run and shoot and we still didn’t have an answer in the 2H

How many times have you seen opposing QB have near perfect passer rating for a half?

I’m disappointed in the fighting. We’re better than that. At least I thought

Spasojevic-Moko should be highly encouraged to enter the portal.

Was he responsible for the fight? I didn't honestly see it, turned the game off immediately. He was responsible for like 60% of our penalties, so it makes sense that he was frustrated.

Jimmy Chitwood's avatar

He looked to be responsible for round 2. Round 1 started with what looked like a late shot on Q as time expired.

The penalties were daggers all year. He pulled similar behavior at A & M…if you take a chance on a guy like him he can’t also be killing you with procedure penalties.

Cal giving up a 21 point lead then losing 35-31 after getting shut out in the 3rd quarter is so typiCal.

This is Cal football. Tosh can't get here soon enough.

And in one last hurrah, Justin Wilcox ruins Christmas for millions of Cal fans.

So we didn't need to keep the defensive coaching staff around next season

Pretty good, imo.

That looks every bit like a Sunny Dykes defense. I hope this isn’t a foreshadowing of things to come.

Can we not have both offense and defense working at the same time.

Hawaii QB was perfect in 2H, minus the receiver drops.

Thomas Parry's avatar

Yeah, look at Oregon.

Jimmy Chitwood's avatar

This looked every bit like a Justin Wilcox team.
