This season we go around our writers for their takes on the other conference games that went on in gameweek.
8 Washington @ Michigan State (Washington wins 41-7)
Former Twitter User MPete91 Who Didn't Watch Any Of These Games Blind Reaction.mp4 - Congrats to the Huskies for taking down fellow Big10 Michigan State by a score of good lord all hail Michael Penix Jr.
TD_24 - Michael Penix Jr and the Huskies are very scary.
Bk97 - Penix put on a clinic by passing for 473 yards and 4 TDs on a ridiculous 13.5 ypa. His life was made easier that Michigan State DBs were rarely in the same zip code as the UW receivers.
Christopher_h - MSU looked woefully unprepared for UW, and I'm not sure that can all be blamed on Mel Tucker. I think the corner Davon Banks (now out for the season) has the makings of a future star.
Weber State @ 12 Utah (Utah wins 31-7)
Former Twitter User MPete91 Who Didn't Watch Any Of These Games Blind Reaction.mp4 - Utah chooses to fight their backyard BBQ and comes out triumphant with a delicious steak or hamburger.
TD_24 - yawn. Wake me up when Cam Rising is back.
Bk97 - Other than last year's 73-7 obliteration of Southern Utah, the Utes rarely post huge win margins over FCS school, so the score isn't much to worry about. Nate Johnson faced a surprising amount of pressure, which could be problematic facing off against UCLA this week.
Christopher_h - Utah shows how to handle a good FCS team despite dealing with their own injury troubles.
Hawai'i @ 13 Oregon (Oregon wins 55-10)
Former Twitter User MPete91 Who Didn't Watch Any Of These Games Blind Reaction.mp4 - This does nothing for me. I think Oregon is still a fraudulent team but can't see them breaking the Top 10 and sustaining it.
TD_24 - I'm so ready for Colorado vs Oregon.
Christopher_h - Oregon was up 24-0 in the 1st quarter, and probably could have put up 100 points if they wanted. Oregon bounced back from the Texas Tech game and looked strong in all facets of the game.
San Diego State @ 16 Oregon State (Oregon State wins 26-9)
Former Twitter User MPete91 Who Didn't Watch Any Of These Games Blind Reaction.mp4 - I had to look up this boxscore because 26 is a weird number of points only to discover that the kicker for Oregon State is named Atticus Sappington. All time name team. Oregon State continues the run to claim the Pac12 title.
TD_24 - OSU hits their first fork in the road but navigated by SDSU. How DJ Uiagalelei rebounds from in game adversity will be something to watch.
Bk97 - The defense looks great, the offense mostly looks good, but have OSU's easy wins been more of a reflection of their dominance or their opponents' weaknesses? We'll find out when they play in the Mountain West Championship Game this Saturday.
Christopher_h - I thought OSU was due for a bit of a regression this year, and so far I have been completely wrong. They once again take care of business against a team that has troubled Pac-12 teams for years. Just like UW-MSU being a future conference matchup preview, perhaps this game was too.
Colorado State @ 18 Colorado (Colorado wins 43-35 in 2OT)
Former Twitter User MPete91 Who Didn't Watch Any Of These Games Blind Reaction.mp4 - The only game I watched! Not sure what Colorado is yet, and I know this is a rivalry game, but Wazzu hung 50 on them? Colorado's downfall is coming, but until then you gotta respect it.
TD_24 - All the stars come out and yet the Rams are the ones who almost stole the show. Going unscathed into Oregon is huge.
Bk97 - The Buffs barely survived against a bad Colorado State team. They are in for a rude awakening over the next two weeks (at Oregon, vs. USC).
Christopher_h - Colorado eked out a comeback victory as 24-point favorites in double OT against a lowly MW team (and rushed the flippin' field after doing so). The fact that Colorado is ranked despite all indications of being a mediocre team is proof that only media hype matters for AP poll rankings. This is not one of the best 25 teams in the country, even if they are #1 in oversaturated media attention.
Northern Colorado @ 23 Washington State (Washington State wins 64-21)
Former Twitter User MPete91 Who Didn't Watch Any Of These Games Blind Reaction.mp4 - GO COUGS
TD_24 - WSU vs OSU will be a thriller for 2 teams who deserve more than they have gotten
North Carolina Central @ 24 UCLA (UCLA wins 59-7)
Former Twitter User MPete91 Who Didn't Watch Any Of These Games Blind Reaction.mp4 - North Carolina Central? NORTH CAROLINA CENTRAL?
TD_24 - SDSU's offense still has not figured it out in the Brady Hoke era. Dante Moore may be the future.
Bk97 - Yet another Pac-12 game I didn't watch because these matchups were mostly awful this week.
Christopher_h - I had never heard of North Carolina Central before this game. Play a real FCS squad next time, you cowards.
Sacramento State @ Stanford (Stanford loses 23-30)
Former Twitter User MPete91 Who Didn't Watch Any Of These Games Blind Reaction.mp4 - LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
TD_24 - This game made me laugh in numerous ways. STINGERS UP
Bk97 - AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Christopher_h - I may have crowned Ashton Daniels a little too early here. Stanford lost the Troy Taylor bowl, showing us the alternate reality where Cal doesn't make a big comeback against a strong FCS team. Cal sleeper agent Troy Taylor proceeds to step 2 of his secret "Sabotage Stanford" plan. (In all seriousness, I was/am pulling for Troy Taylor and our ACC bros).
Rob Hwang - I feel for Troy, but man, if this wasn’t a hilarious outcome…
Fresno State @ Arizona State (Arizona State loses 0-29)
Former Twitter User MPete91 Who Didn't Watch Any Of These Games Blind Reaction.mp4 - WAY TO GO DAD
TD_24 - The fighting Jeff Tedford's will not be silenced!
Bk97 - Oof. ASU's best-case scenario looks like a 3-9 season.
Christopher_h - ASU's ability to get home on 3rd down redzone blitzes and forcing Fresno State to constantly settle for field goals is the only reason this game finished 29-0 and not 56-0. ASU is down to their 4th string QB and don't have a whole lot to be excited about this year.
UTEP @ Arizona (Arizona wins 31-10)
Former Twitter User MPete91 Who Didn't Watch Any Of These Games Blind Reaction.mp4 - yawn
Christopher_h - A solid defensive effort from Arizona this week, but I'd probably wait to hand them any accolades until they manage to do it against an offense with a little bit more firepower than UTEP.
Any other thoughts?
TD_24 - Pac 12 play is upon us. Here goes nothing.
Bk97 - Just when the stench of the UC Davis loss was starting to fade into the history books, LSJU redeems itself with another inexplicable loss to a local FCS team.
Christopher_h - This week felt like the calm before the storm, with a lot of teams taking a bit of a breather by scheduling an FCS team before the opening of conference play. Next week, pretty much every conference game is on a major network (3x FOX, ABC, ESPN; with only Arizona-Stanford relegated to P12 Network Purgatory), something I can't remember seeing in a very long time.
North Carolina Central wasn't really an act of cowardice, at least by UCLA. Michigan bailed on a home and home with the Bruins late in the process, and UCLA had to scramble to even find an opponent each year.
Tony Gonzalez just ripped Sherman and Stanfurd at halftime!...hilarious!
