A team that has never won in the state of California teams up with a coach that has never played west of Utah to take on the University of California Golden Bears in Berkeley, California.
I have just watched your interrogation of Komrade Intendent Wilcox at PAC 12 (whatever that is) Media Day in July at decadent Amerikanski Las Vegas. You question him for use of Transfer Portal- this was good. As you know, we make Five Year Plans, yet Intendent Wilcox has exceeded our tolerance for failure by remaining 7 years. Future interrogations should ask Komrade Intendent WIlcox how he expects to make success in New Five Year Plan.
Well done, Komrade.
-Not-Fearless Leader.
P.S. We need to make big trouble for Tiger, Vandal (German fascists), Huskies, Devils, Beavers, Ducks, Utes, Trojans (Classic fascist-royalists), Cougars, Trees, and Other Bears (traitors to cause). And Moose and Squirrel.

Preseason 2023 FBS team rankings: UNT #90.......UMass #133 DFL (dead fucking last). We had a 5 point spread and beat UNT by 37. Auburn/UMass spread was 35.5. Final score 59-14, Auburn. Auburn won by 45.
feels like this game will be about Cal's D fitting Auburn's run and a real test for our remade DL against a mountain of man meat that is the Auburn OL.
I also have a feeling that Spav and the boys are gonna hang another 40 or 50 burger on the Tigers.
Thank you for the film and analysis. Very helpful, as you point out things I do not see. Sometimes, when looking through the upcoming opponents highlight film, it can be intimidating. But then we have our own highlight film don't we. Their ground game may be pretty good; so is ours. Maybe we do see more passing from Cal this game, but I hope we run it and run it often.

The opening of this piece, I must say, is just so perfect for me. I recognize that it can be taken poorly by folks who disagree, but to point out the hypocrisy of Freeze, and others who taunt us with Christianity when they violate the simplest elements, just must be said. The hypocrisy in sports, in general, is correctly pointed out. Thank you for the humor and biting satire.
I do not fear anything about the Auburn team. I realize they may win, but I don't believe there is anything about them that warrants fear. In fact, I would bet money that Utah, UW, USC, Oregon and OSU would beat them at home, and perhaps others from the current Pac.
I couldn't agree more that we need to do our best to make Memorial a hostile place. I'm hoping there are some good student chants about Freeze. Go Bears!
Hey My name is Chris and I’m the current mic man of the student section. I was thinking about leading some Hugh Freeze slander but I don’t think the majority of the students will know what I’m referring to. Any chant ideas that you think would be catchy and easily understandable? There is definitely a lot of humor to be had about his affinity for prostitutes
Haha these are all great! I think Piotr's: "DOES YOUR WIFE KNOW" hits the hardest. Thanks so much for all of the help, I promise to get the students jumpin this Saturday. GO BEARS
Hi Chris, and first off thanks so much for being the mic man. A proud tradition and essential role. I appreciate you asking and let's see what comes to mind...Others here will surely have more clever bites than mine. I tend to be more straightforward in my approaches. Like "Hey Freeze, this is the 510 and you've gotta go!" or "Hot for Twot Freeze make sure you say Please". Probably nothing mic man worthy.
Payton Thorne and Sam Jackson V last shared a field together on Nov. 3, 2018, when Naperville Central High School (Illinois) lost in the second round of the Class 8A postseason.
Jackson, a quarterback, played wide receiver as a sophomore during Thorne's senior year -- catching 50 passes for 847 yards and 14 touchdowns. With help from Jackson, Thorne established a school record with 40 touchdown passes.
Saturday night in Berkeley, California, Thorne and Jackson will reunite, though this time as opposing QBs.
Thorne was 10-of-17 passing for 141 yards and a touchdown in the Tigers' 59-14 victory over UMass last week, while Jackson (3-of-4 passing, 33 yards and a TD) left the first half of Cal's 58-21 victory over North Texas with what coach Justin Wilcox called an upper-body injury. Jackson, who was replaced by Ben Finley, is considered day-to-day.
Thorne, a two-year starter at Michigan State, transferred to Auburn in May. Jackson transferred from TCU to Cal in January. -- Blake Baumgartner"
Great article and videos. I hope our boys fire up to beat all the blowhards in the SEC, including Hugh The Hooker Lover and Paul Pattern-Baldness Finebaum. I so badly want to beat these mofos.
And on the communist note, it always seems as if people confuse the city of Berkeley with the UC. Many of the kids I met at Cal were rich brats from PV or hardcore Presbyterian Koreans...not exactly lefties. Berkeley does invoke a protestor spirit, but the actual protester crowd (as you all know) is quite small (at least it used to be). I always got a kick out of the same group of people protesting different stuff, on a different day.
1. Maybe we should be the Bulls, since I, for one, can easily be triggered by a waving "red" cape. Your snark was well done, though.
2. There is an imbalance of audiovisual volume given to, let's say, Left-leaning politics in this state. As a student at Cal, I did feel that my more conservative politics and religious faith were best kept quietly tucked away. IMHO.
3. Sports in general tends to be more moderate in politics. Even the raving Commies that comment, here, on W4C, tend to have a sense of self-moderation. Just kidding... they don't moderate. 😳
The Auburn offense does seem to be formidable. I sure hope we pack CMS.
Its important to note here that there are many conservatives on campus. What cannot, and should not be tolerated under the guise of free speech, is hate speech that threatens the most vulnerable on campus from the likes of Shapiro, Coulter, or Milo. There is a difference despite what Fox et al would have you believe.
I think there is a difference between bringing in academics to campus (that might be of various political persuasions) versus pundits that are brought on campus by partisan groups to stir the pot (and they usually charge a heavy fee whereas most academics do not).
My only objections to this, Bob, is the idea that there is always a left and right perspective on everything. In politics, sure, but so many subjects are apolitical. Some people, in the modern era, see everything through a polarized lens, unfortunately.
agreed, I bristle at any political comments or posts, regardless of left/right bent. Aren't there enough politics sites that we can keep it to Cal sports on this one?

This game, as most football games go, will come down to who wins the trenches ~ on both sides of the ball. Against NT, Cal's OL really wasn't all that good in the first half but got a lot better in the 2nd half. I prefer to see Driscoll at center moving forward. Additionally Cal's DL didn't do that well against NT either until later in the game. Cal's DL has to play and start much faster in this game. Our DB's have to accept the challenge of going 1 on 1 in the backfield to force Auburn out of their scheme which is predicated on running the ball. I acknowledge this is the preview on Auburn's offense but I'd mention that Auburn's defense doesn't look that great ~ at least to me.
Oh, and Ott's presser yesterday added fuel to the fire. That presser is being passed throughout the Auburn fan base. LOL
I saw those comments and kind of laughed. What is he supposed to say? I don’t expect to win the game? Not sure I’d want a running back with those expectations.

Probably more like 27-24 one way or the other.
Hugh Freeze does enough corrupt and immoral "Real Football Coach" stuff that people convince themselves that he must be good.
Keep their runs short and we can take this.

"Re-hab

Re-hab"
*clap, clap, clap
"Does your wife know?"
Easiest would be something around improper use of his company phone.
"Take Hugh's phone away!"
"Use your burner!"
Or if you want to bring up his excuse for calling up an escort service:
"No more buttdials!"
Haha these are all great! I think Piotr's: "DOES YOUR WIFE KNOW" hits the hardest. Thanks so much for all of the help, I promise to get the students jumpin this Saturday. GO BEARS
I'll be on the field so i'll be making sure to get that on video/audio haha
My Boss ended up nixing the chant SMH. The students were as loud as they could be though, very rowdy. Thanks for all of the help though guys
“Get a life,

Came across this interesting fact:
"High school teammates square off (Auburn at Cal)

If we can limit their speed, we can control the game. Auburn needs Call to make mistakes in order to beat us.
There's got to be a chant using the word "escorts"; c'mon student section, you know what to do.

Agree on all points, except, well, hookers, too, need love.
Yes, those protestors, with no visible means of support are professionals.
Well Cal beating Auburn would amount to a big slice of humble pie for him. Did you hear what he said about Cal and StanfUrd recently?
He basically said adding Calford-SMU adds nothing to the ACC, further dilutes it, and guarantees the exit of FSU and Clemson.
Awesome and well explained analysis, Chris.
A couple of thoughts and since you brought it up:
IMHO.

Yay more conservative Cal fans, LFG!!

I find this post hateful and offensive. Please remove it!
;-)
Interesting. May we agree to disagree? IMHO, it's a slippery slope deciding what speech is permissible.
I think there is a difference between bringing in academics to campus (that might be of various political persuasions) versus pundits that are brought on campus by partisan groups to stir the pot (and they usually charge a heavy fee whereas most academics do not).
Well, that's only fair, if pundits of all sides are held to the same standards.
My only objections to this, Bob, is the idea that there is always a left and right perspective on everything. In politics, sure, but so many subjects are apolitical. Some people, in the modern era, see everything through a polarized lens, unfortunately.

Yeah, you were there in eye of the radical hurricane. Very one-sided rhetoric at that time.

Why? I don't recall him saying anything particularly inflammatory.
He said he saw film and didn't see the talent you would expect from Auburn.
Got it, I was only listening with half an ear so I must have missed it.
I saw those comments and kind of laughed. What is he supposed to say? I don’t expect to win the game? Not sure I’d want a running back with those expectations.
Freeze and offensive really do belong in the same sentence.
