Regarding "Bear Down"... it comes from basically the Arizona version of Joe Roth. In 1926, QB John Salmon was fatally injured in a car crash, and his dying words were "...tell the team to bear down". It's a similarly tragic story to Roth's in the sense that a player left a lasting legacy at the school after their demise.

We'll know a lot more about Ott/Bears run game after/during the WSU game. If the offensive line can give him a chance (one hole to take on a linebacker or safety), then it could be special. I'll wait to see if he's the next coming of Javid Best.

Stanford is officially a penny stock at this point.

Ott is certified bitcoin.

I will never understand how or why the Arizona Wildcats have the Bear Down motto.

Why would you curse Ott like that?

I've heard that saying came from one of their former football coaches. He'd say it. They liked it. They keep saying it. Something like that.

In 1926 their QB was in a fatal car accident and his dying words were "...tell the team to bear down." It stuck and has been their motto since.

More like Meow Down!!! Am I right?!

When did Arizona start using the motto?

In the 1920s - they had a big man on campus (quarterback, student body president, etc. etc.) who took a road trip to Phoenix after an on-campus exhibition football game victory, came back and on the way back to Tucson got into a car crash. The then football coach went to visit and the qb told the coach "tell the students to Bear Down!" - this was before the Knute Rockne "Win one for the Gipper" story.

Interesting. IIRC it's written on the center of the field.

If you hadn't already bought Zach Charbonnet stock, you're a couple of years late. Most probably also bought Ott a few weeks ago.

Meanwhile, it might already be too late to dump Stanford; no one will buy it, especially now that the injuries are starting to pile up. Their overall talent is down, but their depth is even more lacking in quality.

Wasn't so much as doubting Charbonnet himself but more skeptical as to why UCLA didn't feed him the ball more. If it was due to injuries, then I understand, but he's a guy that should get 20 touches a game, every game

Load management. He's already been dinged once this year, and its happened before, and he was restricted in use in the "cupcake" nonconference schedule. Given the Bruins probably do need 20 touches per game in the remaining 8-9 games, it makes sense to try and save a few hits when they can.
