He is truly one of a kind. The ILB's are the ones who usually make the tackles on inside and outside (stretch) zone plays. He is so good at analyzing the play and reading his keys that he usually ends up making the tackle or assisting it. He's also very good at dropping into his area of pass defense on zone coverages. I met his family before a couple of games and they are from Utah but they said he wants to ta stay here for academics and football. He's a true BEAR!
Got a photo with Cade at the Big Game when he was in street clothes. I think I surprised him by recognizing him out of uniform (and he had a hat on covering his recognizable hair). Talked to him a bit and he was so genuine. So glad he’s staying. This guy is such an amazing talent!
This is fantastic news !!!!! The hope that He stays healthy and gets prepared to plug up the middle. With a pretty new secondary coming in next year He will the focal point of the Defense. One positive step for the Bears.
Still Need a QB .. Maybe Fernando can still Return since He has not committed any place else so far.
That is a good point but I think so. I believe the players all know that sometimes you need to check all your options. Mendoza played his heart out for his stay here in Berkeley. Now that the team has filled in most of their new assistant coaches Mendoza can make up his mind if they are the right fit for him for his future. The key piece is his belief in a new system and Wilcox. I know it is a long shot but, possibly a shot.
This is FANTASTIC NEWS!!!! If anything, it shows that players on defense see Cal as an option to get to the NFL. Now if we can start doing the same thing for offense......
