Haven't gotten to see much of him hosting personally (no live tv) but responses from the Jeopardy subreddit seem to be fairly positive. Some people find him a bit boring and to be fair he could kick up the energy just a bit, but most people like his delivery. A lot of people have him as their second favorite so far after Ken Jennings
He's particularly earned praise for interviewing well with leading questions despite not having a hosting background. Guess studying all that tape paid off!
Ken Jennings has a ton of awful awful tweets - anti-Asian, homophobic, etc. And they were AFTER he became famous. I love ARod, but would love to have Lavar Burton get a shot too.
Not to really defend Ken Jennings but he did write a book, Planet Funny, about modern comedy which has a large section about how some unknown on Twitter can probably make a better joke than the professionals. He had some cruel jokes that he both apologized for but also maintained that he should not just erase. From reading that book, I can kind of comprehend his attempts to be edgy with those ableist and/or homophobic and/or anti-Asian jokes and excuse that a bit as his exercise in emulating the kind of comedy that was once more popular. Coincidentally, he also offended a lot of GOP folks with other jokes, so there was also controversy when he was guest-hosting from that crowd.
Seems like all the guest hosting this year was just a creative way of buying some time and creating a buffer between Trebek and the eventual next host. Give the fans some time to heal, and take some pressure off the eventual Trebek successor, who cant possibly fill his shoes. I dont see any of the guests as trying out per se, if that's how others see it. I think the eventual host mainly just needs to be a really good speaker, with a really good speaking voice, which I don't think any of the guest hosts have had, particularly Ken Jennings. Basically, they just need a lesser-known professional host (who will be committed long term), and the show's format and everyone's love of trivia takes care of itself. Probably have hundreds of those people to cast from in Hollywood so should be able to find a decent one. Though I too would love to see Lavar Burton have a turn as a guest.
Wow! What a comprehensive article Ruey! NorCalNick has a phone interview sometime soon for Jeopardy, I believe.
There is now a Livermorium.
True, that FJ question from 2009 was no longer correct after 2012.
I met the mayor of Livermore, who happened to be a chemist, and he was happy to tell me all about Livermorium and the associated ceremony.

His offensive jokes are really awful though. Completely unfunny.
