Cal Athletics announces return to full capacity this fall
Another step towards normalcy
Cal Athletics announced that they are returning to full capacity this fall. Starting with the reopening of Memorial Stadium to all fans.
When asked about other sports and indoor venues, Cal Athletics told Write for California:
The announcement was about football and our other outdoor venues. We’ll have more on indoor venues when we have more guidance.
Cal football games will feature a more normal look and feel this season with full capacity at California Memorial Stadium, as well as the return of such traditions as the Cal Band, cheer and spirit, and Tailgate Town. Full details regarding health and safety protocols, which will be in alignment with state guidelines, will be announced prior to the start of the fall seasons for all Golden Bear sports.
"We are excited to be able to welcome our fans back to Memorial Stadium and to all of our outdoor venues this fall," Director of Athletics Jim Knowlton said. "We know how much our fans have missed the experience of attending our games in person, which we can see through a 95 percent renewal rate for football season tickets and high demand for new tickets. We are looking forward to an exciting season here in Berkeley, and as we have done since the start of the pandemic, we will follow all state and local health protocols to ensure a safe environment for all those who come out to our games."
We’re just one month out from the beginning of Fall Camp and just over 2 months to the start of the 2021 season opener against Nevada on September 4th.
And, one of the people in the stadium and on our sidelines, dressed to play, might be our own Luc Bequette! https://www.si.com/college/cal/news/bequette-may-return
Man I missed the games, the tailgates and everyone last year. Can't wait!
