It's turn-around time! Go Bears!

I was at the game, a gorgeous afternoon in SF. Nice return to action from concussion for Jacob French-you never know how a player is going to respond coming back from getting sidelined due to a beaning. Also good to see Hanson start to get it figured out at the plate, and Kodama with some hard contact lately. Bottom of the lineup had been somewhat of a weakness for the Bears but is improving. Pitchers had a great day.

All of Cal’s games thus far have been against 4 of the top 6 teams in ACC, and we were competitive in 2 of those series. Lots of new/untested players. Hopefully this weekend against Pitt will be better. P.s. this past weekend Cal was hurt badly by the hitting and defense of a former Cal player, whom we developed out of high school for 2 years but then transferred to GT for a big NIL pay day. Men’s football and basketball have been hurt badly by the deep pockets of ACC, BIG 10 and SEC teams ( e.g. Mendoza). Baseball is a sport very important to the fans/donors of all these same conferences. Obviously this NIL thing has made title wave changes in these sports. Have no idea what Cal will, or can do about this. Baseball alums/donors have already been required to raise 15M plus 600-700k per year ONLY to overcome the consequences of baseball being cut by then AD Sandi Barbour in 2011 (as she looked for ways to cover her mishandling of the football stadium improvements prior to 2011). Cal has put over 75 players in MLB over the years, including several current MLB starters/All Stars. Finding a way forward is a huge challenge.
