We will see what happens when they start playing real teams. They can’t do any worse than they did last year.

Yeah, I get your caution. I share the sentiment, but not to the same extent. Maybe teams Cal plays non-con here in the west aren’t as bad as many assume. Cal just swept USD who is picked to win the WCC. Cal swept Sac State. Sac State just took two of three from #2 -ranked LSU in Baton Rouge. I think the biggest question mark for me is Cal’s pitching depth in the bullpen. But, starting pitching appears to be a plus; right now, they’ve had four guys, counting Espinoza, who’ve shown they can eat up innings, remain around the strike zone/avoid the volume of free passes that plagued the staff last tear. Losing Jeon’s bat in the lineup (after he suffered a lower extremity injury while celebrating his second homer Saturday) is a blow, but Cal seems to have some good bats throughout the lineup. We’ll see.
