Cal Basketball brings in Jaylon Tyson through the portal
A top tier wing is added to the Cal Basketball roster
Mark Madsen continued his revamp of the Cal roster with the addition of Jaylon Tyson from Texas Tech. Tyson was a former top-40 recruit in the 2021 cycle, originally committing to Texas, before transferring to Texas Tech for the 2022 season.
The 6’7” forward is a good ball-handler that also excels working off ball. This past season, Tyson shot 40.2% from 3 on 107 shots, also making 53.8% of his 2PT shots. He was also a great free throw shooter, with a 72.3% on 47 attempts.
Welcome to Berkeley, Jaylon!
I can now officially (and proudly) announce I will be stepping foot into Haas Pavilion again!
This is the transformational change that I thought we'd see with Madsen. Right now, if he can get this crew into the NIT, I think it will be a successful season, and we'll look at this group as the catalyst for bringing the Cal MBB back from hell.
