Gonna be tough for Knowlton to find an even worse coach but I have faith in his ability to do so.

Why are we not firing Knowlton!!!

There is as much to our response to this fiasco as the official stages of grief. We are all at the last stage, which is some version of your preferred word for "No longer give any shit". First time in my life when I don't even check the score during the game, not only not watching it. Couldn't care less. What a shame. Not to boast, but if Cal Athletics can't retain me as an ardent fan, then they have truly reached rock bottom.

That is completely unacceptable for a pac 12 school. Where is Knowlton? Wait, he gave Fox a vote of confidence earlier in the year, what a joke he is. You can’t even watch this team, they really don’t have a player that is scholarship material. The last game against Colorado, they had a stretch where they couldn’t even pass the ball from one person to another , without a steal and a layup. This is much worst than watching the football team.

As of today, Cal's men's BB, women's BB, and football teams have won a total of 6 Pac-12 games this academic year. Any thoughts, Jim?

I sent Nick's prior article to Knowlton this morning and will send this comment to him shortly. Both were excellent and did not and will not include any of the related reader comments.

I recently sent an email to Nick that very soon someone from W4C should write a column asking for reader comments as to who our next head coach should be. I have suggested that Joe Pasternack, now head coach at UCSB, should be that coach because, primarily, he was an assistant coach at Cal for several years, has been a coach on the west coast for several years so is familiar with Cal's likely prime recruitnig terrifory, and has had an excellent coaching record at UCSB (check my primry source on this -- what else, Wikipedia). This morning I sent a comment to that effect to Knowlton and later today will send a copy of this post to Knowlton to plug, for his consideration, hiring Pasternak as our next head coach. I must admit I am no real expert on this subject. Looking forward to readaing other suggestions from W4C readers on this subject if and when W4C asks for them.

UCSB is now in firs place in the Big West, wth one loss and has a good chance to get into the NCAA's, certainly as the winner of that conference but maybe even if they don't win it. Here is Pasternack's Wikipedia link --https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Pasternack

1. Fire anyone that doesn't think that Knowlton is not the problem

2. Start investments into your money-making sports that will offset the Olympic sports

3. Fire Knowlton

Wonder how recent men's games at Haas compare in attendance to recent home women's games.

He’s the worst coach in Cal basketball history. How is he not fired already??

so what's the good news?

Oregon State sunshine pumpers everywhere send their thanks to Cal for providing company in the bottom of both hoops standings (I'm assuming ASU's decision to run one of the better WBB programs in the country completely into the ground is only a temporary situation).

It's doubtful we'll ever get this from Knowlton, but assuming Fox is gone, I'd love to know his thoughts on why he felt it important to keep Fox on through the entire season and not try to actually salvage something from it, however small. We've become too accustomed to just burning entire years.

The stats above present a very ugly picture for Cal. But the following one is the worst -- "Cal’s defense is not forcing that many turnovers relative to how many they’re giving up, with only a 16.7% rate, 291st overall." The means that Cal turns the ball over just under six times more than their opponents do. UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!!! Indicates that Call not only has a crappy offense, as covered elsewhere, where they are forced to take three point shots but their opponents gete good inside looks (the Colorado game was a good example of that), but also a crappy defense, at least in one key category.
