Oregon State sunshine pumpers everywhere send their thanks to Cal for providing company in the bottom of both hoops standings (I'm assuming ASU's decision to run one of the better WBB programs in the country completely into the ground is only a temporary situation).
It's doubtful we'll ever get this from Knowlton, but assuming Fox is gone, I'd love to know his thoughts on why he felt it important to keep Fox on through the entire season and not try to actually salvage something from it, however small. We've become too accustomed to just burning entire years.
There is as much to our response to this fiasco as the official stages of grief. We are all at the last stage, which is some version of your preferred word for "No longer give any shit". First time in my life when I don't even check the score during the game, not only not watching it. Couldn't care less. What a shame. Not to boast, but if Cal Athletics can't retain me as an ardent fan, then they have truly reached rock bottom.
Having just watched the end of Purdue-Indiana and the pregame for NC-Duke, I just wish someone in the Pac besides Arizona actually prioritized hoops. Anyone.
That is completely unacceptable for a pac 12 school. Where is Knowlton? Wait, he gave Fox a vote of confidence earlier in the year, what a joke he is. You can’t even watch this team, they really don’t have a player that is scholarship material. The last game against Colorado, they had a stretch where they couldn’t even pass the ball from one person to another , without a steal and a layup. This is much worst than watching the football team.
Why would any good players want to come to Cal. At this point it may not matter who the coach is, unless they can pull off a Coach Prime type hire - very unlikely. Sad times
We need a former Cal player to even have the guts to take this on. They’d have to believe that the past success can happen again. Only someone who has lived it will ever believe in it.
Keep in mind that Legans left us in much the same way that Hasse left us. Legans will get a look, but I just wouldn’t give him extra credit for wearing blue and gold. Gates was the guy if we wanted to go down that road. I just want us to get the best coach we can, regardless of whether they have an affiliation or not. Ryan Odom is the guy I’m starting to obsess over. A program builder on the way up, who is due a P5 look.
Prefer someone other than Shantay, though not the hard pass…at least he is NOT Mark Fox.
I like Odom a lot…I like Stanley Johnson at Loyola Marymount…I like Chris Victor at Seattle University…I even like Pencilneck, the incident with Jorge notwithstanding…
1. Fire anyone that doesn't think that Knowlton is not the problem
2. Start investments into your money-making sports that will offset the Olympic sports
3. Fire Knowlton
4. Fire Mark Fox
The Cal athletic department never fails to disappoint.
He’s the worst coach in Cal basketball history. How is he not fired already??
so what's the good news?

Knowlton is the only AD in that I know doesn't have his email released to the public. He's afraid of the backlash
St. Mary’s is a waaaayyyy better program than Cal. St. Mary’s!

Always good to strive to be the #1 all time worst program in Cal history. It took a lot of work, but Knowlton and Fox have done the impossible.

Why are we not firing Knowlton!!!
Ask the chancellor. She hired and extended him.
Because in typical Cal fashion we committed long term to the wrong guy. He’s locked up till like ‘29 or something. The worst is yet to come.
Which sucks because we should fire Knowlton and let his replacement straighten out the various messes that have occurred under him.

Knowlton knows we have a basketball team, right?
Gonna be tough for Knowlton to find an even worse coach but I have faith in his ability to do so.
Mike Hopkins is flirting with unemployment at UW, which would open the opportunity for the glorious return of Why?king!
What did we deserve to get the program death penalty???

Shantay Legans comes to mind since we probably can’t get Dennis Gates anymore.
