Really tough to stockpile talent on the bench in the NIL era. The only real cheat code is being an elite destination for one-and-done talent that can win with a short bench. Very few programs can do that, and even they struggle to get these teams to gel year after year.
There are basically two simultaneous jobs: (1) develop young recruits, many of whom will transfer if you're successful; (2) be a transfer destination that can gel a roster. Time will tell how well Madsen does on (1). It is, however, impressive that he's doing SO well at (2) that he's able to saturate those transfer spots despite starting with a near-blank slate.
If I had to pick which approach I'd want us to be better at, it would be (2), though Jaylen Brown choosing Cal will be one of my all-time favorite recruitment stories.
Could be. But really think the stunted path to PT was a bigger factor. Suddenly, a JC transfer is looking at having to contend with 3 talented wings (including Omot) that have already played D1 ball, 2 at the P5 level. Once Stoja signed on, Nwankwo likely started to get cold tootsies.
Is it possible that when Coach got a live look at him he realized he wouldn't fit his plan? Thus giving him the chance to look elsewhere while saving face?
Any info on Rodney Brown?
Committed to Virginia Tech: https://www.si.com/college/cal/rodneybrowncommitstovirginiatech
Does anyone have any rumors about who we are after for the remaining spots?
Can a recruit leave if he never enrolled?
On the positive side, note that the Athletic's mock draft has Tyson going 30th to the Celtics in the first round. A feather in Madsen's cap.

The most parsimonious assumption is that he was offered more money to play elsewhere.

Think it’s more likely that 4 additional, skilled wings joined the program after he committed and his PT looked much less guaranteed than prior.
Adios.
Was interested in seeing Nwankwo, but after adding Rytis, Ola-Joseph and lil Stoja, his minutes were probably gonna be a mixed bag.
The extra scholly could actually be more beneficial now…add another big, along with a PG.
problem is there's not a lot of quality open left from what i've been seeing and. i would love a 5.
We could definitely use another big. The current crew figures to really struggle in the ACC.
Saw on Twitter we offered a 6’9”/230 pounder F from Wazzu…he could absolutely help.
Who was that?
Spencer Mahoney. Redshirted last year with injury.
No news that he’s signed anywhere, but that offer was like 10 days ago….
Agree about adding another big and a PG.
Perhaps they could flip someone. Isn’t there a certain big on the Farm…
