BK97 for all the outstanding data analytics you've done over the years for the CGB / W4C community, those first two paragraphs are some of the best prose ever written here. Bravo!
I appreciate the praise. Sometimes we find the inspiration to elevate our craft in the most unusual places--for me, it was that ridiculous drive on Saturday.
Fantastic analysis. In the article you mentioned BCF TOYS doesn't track FCS data. One could argue the Cal/'Cuse game was an FCS game, not a Power 4 game, with'Cuse wanting to lose more than the GBs.
I noted, several days ago, that should this game be classified a rock fight it would be an insult to rock fights. I'm relieved it was rated a "bad" cuz it certainly was.
Against Wagner we should just run the ball with different combinations of OL until we find the right combination. Then we can throw a few passes, get out of the game injury free and call it a day.
Your analysis validates the crazy things I saw in this game, although it didn’t factor in the equally puzzling performance of the refs
But it also illustrates the alarming offensive performance of the game that required our opponent to have 4 turnovers, two missed FGs, two failed two- point conversions and penalties seemingly every other play for us to squeak out a stress inducing last 3 minutes
We have a more experienced QB, better RB and WR, and the same OL including TE as last year.
The only thing we are missing is our leading receiver DeJesus to explain our offensive drop off… and coaching
I and probably every shell shocked Cal fan kept exclaiming the game was the worst since the Cheese-it Bowl , only in that game we didn’t have a generational player at QB!
Someone double check this for me, but I have a screenshot of it. Betting Pro's has the line on the game as Wagner -1.5 (!?). Both the line has been moving toward Wagner and the Over/Under has been trending down. Am I reading this wrong, someone fix my eyes.
I'm no financial advisor and I don't want anyone to make hasty financial decisions without consulting the appropriate parties, but I would put every dollar I can find on Cal to cover that spread.
every single saturday game on the ESPN list of college football games as a spread listed and an over/under listed...except the CAL game. It is the only one with no betting stuff listed - did they also notice the shenanigans?

Please don’t take any team lightly Cal. I want to see a ruthless and focused first half by the Bears
The score could well be 45-0 at half-time.

Clustering algos are so neat.

What does this all mean??!?!!

Weird: they now have Wagner favored by 5.5 (https://www.bettingpros.com/ncaaf/matchups/california-vs-wagner/)

"since the Cheez It Bowl"
Do we HAVE to dredge up that memory? I've been trying to block that one out for years...
"...this team is bad. I’m talking, bad bad...."
How bad? Last week's game:
James Madison Dukes 87 Wagner Seahawks 3
Wagner +55
It puzzling why they would fly 3000 miles to get an ass whooping when they could just take a bus to Rutgers and save everyone the hassle
If given the choice between taking a bus to New Jersey or flying out to the Bay Area for the weekend, I know which choice I'm making.
