JUST THINK ORGON IS COMPOSED OF JUST A BUNCH OF "QUACKS" BUT IF THEY ALL WALK LIKE DUCKS ....... CAL MAY HAVE A LONG. LONG , LONG SHOT OF STAYING IN THE GAME FOR A BIT!! GERBEAR
For the first time in my nearly 37 years on this earth, I will be willingly skipping two home games in a row. Our AD is a buffoon of mind-boggling proportions, our head coach can’t get a damn offensive coordinator hire right to save his life (and refuses to fire a single under-performing assistant, even if only to publicly make the point that mediocrity is not bleeping acceptable), and, based on the current recruiting class, the program’s direction continues to look bleaker and bleaker. With so many people in power within our athletic department appearing to not really give a shit, I just don’t have it in me to keep investing. A two hour drive to watch us a) get waxed by oregon or b) inexplicably play somewhat up to our competition only to find a way to give the game away is not how I’m going to spend my Saturday. Instead, I’ll be keeping my fandom at home and taking my wife to her homecoming at sac state to watch an entertaining and well-coached team, led by a man who would probably give his left nut for cal football, but who will likely never be our coach because of the utterly insane contract given to Wilcox by Jim “the empty suit” Knowlton. Instead, this off-season, we’ll find another re-tread offensive coordinator like Bill Musgrave - a guy who is 54 going on about 80, and based on every interview I’ve seen with him, appears to be the least inspirational person on the planet. Seriously, the only thing that guy inspires me to do is fall into a coma. I’m starting to think it’s no coincidence that Wilcox’s most successful season came with guys like Gerald Alexander on the staff. This program needs a serious injection of that kind of energy, or we may fall into a hole we just can’t get out of.
Everybody on WFC is hyper focused on coaching and scheme but forgetting that the real problems we have on O-line are a lack of depth, experience, and overall talent. This is not an easy problem to fix quickly....and firing Musgrave won't solve it this season.
I think I’m about to check out, stop watching games and boxscore Billy the rest of the season.
I don’t see us winning another game between now and Big Game, not only are we likely to lose but the losses could be ugly.
I will see everyone in the DBDs but I doubt I’ll be in the game or post game threads. Good luck to everyone out there and see you next season with a new OC/OL coach and the same old tired Wilcox.
I was too tired out from this loss to fill out the Survey this week. Getting less interested in Cal football is probably a good thing. Wilcox seems more and more like a lame duck. He won't make tough decisions on underperforming subordinates. It's like if a CEO of a company refused to evaluate his management team's performance when the business was hitting the skids, not a recipe for success and shareholders would eventually call for his ouster. So Wilcox. with misplaced loyalty, is shooting down his own career.
"boxscore Billy". I got a kick out that. I bet the folks that do the humorous sketches on the SEC on youtube, could make some hay with that for hardluck SEC teams' fans. But it would only register with adults of particular generations.
Is anyone else out there concerned that Plummer doesn't make it to the end of the season due to an injury that he simply can't play with? I feel like I'm holding my breath watching the O line play and waiting for him to go down with doing something worse to an already injured leg.
Nailed it as per usual. The most disheartening part of this is knowing there are better, or at least more interesting, options out there that would pique cal fans interest but we will be stuck with the status quo because of poor athletic department decision making.
But it’s ok, all the AD cares about is graduating players which should get easier given we only have 7 guys committed for next year.
I did some quick maths. I added up all points scored in the Musgrave era, removed the highest and lowest scores, and the average points per game is 22.7
Do you really want students to witness 2022 Cal football in person? If they do, will they ever come back again? I'd say, better to take the Oakland A's approach, and raise ticket prices when you know it's going to be an ugly year.
I'm sticking with the free admittance suggestion I made, not just for students. So open up the endzones and areas inside the 10 yard line as free. Cal needs an enlarged fanbase. I think a lot of folks would enjoy the gametime environment. It also would lead to a larger TV audience. It would depend, though, on favorable economics as it represents something of a trade off. What we don't want to see is a continual dwindling of attendance like the A's which has become a national joke.

Wilcox needs to get rid of Sirmon too

while you are correct, but the lack of talent is due to the lack of recruiting by these coaches.
The sooner loser Wilcox, loser Knowlton, and the rest of their loser staffs are fired the better off Cal football will be. Plain and simple
Based on the PFF stats we are lucky to be 3-4. If PFF is an accurate profile of the team we absolutely will not win another game this year.

Some people were calling him Jack the Snack after his fake football dad. I'm now calling him Jack the Sacked.

I suppose we can repurpose that old meme with the happy gorilla, "No screams, only tears now."
Third times a charm for OC. Let’s GoGo get the right guy!!!

Justin Vedder getting sacked 13 times against Washington in '98. We've not quite reached Holmoe depths but we're not far.

Also the students showed up in reasonable numbers but VERY last minute.
Oh lord. Justin Vedder was a perfect example of how all the heart in the world has a ceiling for making up for missing raw talent.
Bo Nix, Caleb Williams, and DTR are all a significant tier above Penix.
They'll never let students in for free unless we bottom out, and Stanford will be mostly full regardless.
