If you never give the redshirt Freshman a chance because you're scared, he'll never develop. And with how the transfer portal is, just transferring people in above him is how you get him to leave.
When would we reasonably expect to land a QB or anyone in the mighty, mystical portal? I am not familiar with the either the formal timing parameters associated with it, or the practice/experience of what actually happens
Slovis or whomever makes no difference, it's all about the OL and that is really what we need from the portal. If we get several QBs from the portal and one of them wins the job, Millner may head to the portal himself. Cal needs 2 QBs this cycle and 4 - 5 tackles. Any tackle news?
Thanks to Chase for everything he did here at Cal.
I’d say I would be absolutely shocked IF he got drafted, but a guy with a 26-28 overall record, 10 games below .500 in conference, just turned down $4 million a year to coach at his legacy alma mater which also happens to be one of the best football programs west of the Mississippi....suffice it to say, I’m re-evaluating what can & can’t happen with Cal football as everything seems to be on the table, except the Rose Bowl of course...
I remember feeling like he demolished us with UCLA, and I just checked. He filled in for Rosen, throwing 14/18 for almost 200 yards as a backup. That's pretty bad.
What will his status be? Junior?
Is this not good news for Milner?
would you rather go with a redshirt freshman with zero game experience or a proven starter with 3 years of experience?

ok, coach
depends on how good the redshirt freshman is

First rule in landing someone in the portal, we need more Dr. Pepper.
Second rule in landing someone in the portal, we need more Diet Dr. Pepper.
Last rule in landing someone in the portal, never look into the portal.
First rule in landing someone in the portal, is it's spelled Dr Pepper.
Dudes, I may have fucked this up for us. I used to drink Mr Pibb regularly as a kid

Yes. Tomorrow.
I hope we keep J. Brown, IMO the prize of the class!!
garbers to the NFL. Good for him and thanks for everything he did but....lol.

Garbers to the NFL...
...in a related development!
Tough to love a Trojan, even a reformed one.
Does this mean that Garbers isn’t returning? I’ll like watching him qb, will miss him if he goes.
Didn’t Slovis destroy the Cal defense a couple years ago?
Which means he's ripe for a very Modster career at Cal.
Modster never destroyed the Cal defense.
I remember feeling like he demolished us with UCLA, and I just checked. He filled in for Rosen, throwing 14/18 for almost 200 yards as a backup. That's pretty bad.
You’re right, I forgot about that game.
Slovis way, way > Modster
Possibly… would Slovis bring Beau Baldwin?
ooooooohhhhh Kedon Slovis would be great at Cal!
