Cal Football Defensive Film Review: Point of Attack Dominance

Cal's front 4 have their way with North Texas

Cal’s starting front 4 along the defensive line against North Texas were as follows:

DL Brett Johnson, DL Ethan Saunders, OLB Myles Jernigan, OLB Xavier Carlton

That foursome did not play every snap - far from it, Cal rotated in a bevy of other linemen and edge rushers. But those four immediately set the tone, and all four stepped up with disruptive plays to contribute to defensive stops and doomed drives. Thus, I’d like to quickly highlight one play from each of the foursome, hopefully as an appetizer for future point-of-attack disruption in 2023.

This film review will be less scheme focused and more individual technique/skill/strength, but we all know that individual ability matters plenty.
