Love the inclusion of the Raphael work. Scan that closely and get lost in body language and nuance. Prolly like Tosh’s place without the hoo-aw!

I love how Tosh has pulled in coaches from college, NFL, and the "private" coaching ranks. He's creating the broadest recruiting base to match the broadest experience base.

My main concern is lack of experience at coordinator (and technically HC), but that problem will literally address itself (hopefully after the fewest growing pains). As much as I want to predict something like 11-1 or 10-2 in Year One, I'm reminding myself that we'll still be at least a year away from seeing the full impact.

Rolovich, the QB whisperer ;-).. good analysis. Great observation that the returning coaches can all recruit well. Now it is time to deliver. ROLL ON!

I think that these write ups are a joy to read. Thank you again Piotr. I am looking forward to the next piece from you. But mostly, I am looking forward to the game against UCLA September 5th under the lights, 7:30 PM, at home, with my boys, the stadium filled with Bear fans and its very load, not because of the speaker noise, but because the fans are crazy happy loud. Go Bears!

It will still be warm but I'm getting a shiver thinking about it!

Are you able to make it down for the game? Hope so.

Yeah, the “under the lights” games this year, such as fUCLA and Clem’s son, will in theory be better lit; the athletic department reportedly received 5 million bucks from the state to help the lighting look better on tv, and provide a better look for nighttime concerts at Memorial, another revenue stream, apparently. I have no inside/verified sources, but heard Ed Quinn talking about this on Reza’s podcast recently. Anyone else know more about it?

Pursuant to a reported lobbying effort in which Lupoi spoke directly with Gavin Newsom, the money is in the pipeline. However, per Google: “Because the state funding was secured relatively late in the year, the new LED system is expected to be fully installed in time for the 2027 season rather than being ready for 2026.”

Man, Lupoi's even out there fundraising the governor.

I know it wasn't intended, but this really undersells that first staff:

> The only viable comparison would be the 1st Justin Wilcox staff, where he plucked an up-and-coming FCS HC (Beau Baldiwn) and paired him with the legendary Oregon OL Coach Greatwood.

TDR (ex-HC) as our DC, Gerald Alexander leading our backs, Tuiasosopo as QB coach...

There was a lot of hope based on his coaching hires.

Man, I love to see Saffell get a title with "Offense Coordinator" in it. I hope we can keep him around until he's the head coach some day.

He won't need to take the tour to other great programs like Tosh did. He can learn from Tosh and Rolovich and whoever Tosh adds over the years...

Great write up. Would love if we could get similar content for the basketball team closer to the season start (for the roster since coaching is the same)
