Got to attend in person Saturday. Haven't been on campus quite a while and hadn't been following MBB as I cancelled Hulu at end of FB season. The offense was very sloppy the first half, with poor spacing and the fellas running into each other on DHOs and high screens at the top, poor timing on rolls to the basket, etc.
I hadn't seen Stojakavic play before. He has many tools in his bag, not just 3-point shooting like his father, but backing guys down, taking folks to the hole, head fakes, step throughs, etc. Love his play and his patience. End of game management was either horribly strategized or horribly executed. Down 3 with 46 seconds and VT possession with only 8 team fouls. We had two fouls in a row, but the first was delayed. Hard to tell if we were intending to defend cleanly or get to 10 team fouls and put them on the line. The delay in the first foul made me think we would defend and retain 16+ seconds on the clock. Again, hard to tell if this was on Madsen for poor strategy or on the players for poor execution.
Bears are on the right track.
