Coach Browning had a good reputation as a coach and developer of players when he was hired. I think he will have the lads ready to perform. What wasn’t as well known about Browning was his recruiting chops. Cal fans should be excited about this seasons young cubs and the arrival of next year’s recruits will have them doing burpees all the way up Strawberry Canyon!!
BJ will continue to be a beast and Z is in the perfect spot to lead this young group and create his own legacy (something Luc should have been here for as well). JH & McKenzie could provide some solid snaps this season. Roberts and Saunders have tons of potential!!
I’m excited for this position group this year but the next 2 – 3 years should be euphoria for fans of the defensive side of the ball.
Someone already mentioned Sui, damn shame that didn’t work out. Does anyone know the story about that?
Do you think there is any chance McKenzie or Correia takes over full time NG duties after a few games and Maldonado becomes the super sub being the primary back up for all defensive line positions? Maldonado seems undersized for Nose Guard, but a line-up of Johnson and Johnson on the ends with McKenzie in the middle (if he lives up to the hype), with Maldonado backing them up is a lineup I think can be pretty good.
It depends. The staff defn honor ability alongside experience. So it’s possible one of them could usurp the starting role by the end of the season. That being said. We mid up our front looks so much with odd and even so the snap count may not be too different.
Thanks for the DL story. Sounds like even with the new faces we will be pretty solid. The watch-a-longs will certainly be intriguing, and may even create a new kind of sportscasting. It kind of reminds me of Twitch, though I am not a user of that platform.

It’s a shame Sui didn’t work out. Those huge NG bodies are hard to come by but it sounds like these two freshman are going to be great.
